I am not my hair………….

Well, I took my braids out and I must say……..I look a hot mess.

BUT!

I’ve made a decision!  While I long for the long flowing hair like Christina over at Being Mrs Jones, I realize that I don’t have the time nor energy to go back to keeping up with the creamy crack.  Soooooo.  I am going to loc my hair.

I have an appointment next friday, bright and early in the morning.

In preparation, I cut off a little more of my hair.  There was still some perm left on the top edges.  It’s going to be short.

I played with getting dreadloc extensions( yes, I am that vain).  But the price tag of $500 to $700 ( not including the hair) put me off.

I’ll just have to deal with it.

I guess it will be an adjustment.  A growing experience( in more ways than one).

I guess I’ll be learning that “I am not my hair…….”

Cant wait to see your hair! Going natural is a great learning experience, I've been chemical free for 5 years and am still learning about my hair. I thought about growing locs and tried but it just wasn't for me. Best of luck to you!

I think you will be very happy with locs. I still struggle with my natural hair after 8 years of quitting the "creamy crack" lol! But I will NEVER chemically relax my hair again. I can't support an industry that gets rich by telling us (even if it's indirectly) something is wrong with our hair in it's natural state.
