NaBloPoMo Day 3: House Shopping.

In case you didn’t know, we are house shopping.  We need to move as close to midway between both of our jobs as we can.  So we’ve been looking. Hard.

Everything we’ve found so far has been either out of our budget or dumps or somewhere in between.

We saw a beautiful house last week that was perfect in every way…except the power lines humming in the back yard.

We saw another house that same week that was more than perfect…excpet that someone had put a contract on it that morning.

So the search has been continuing.

Until Thursday.  Our realtor sent us a photo of a  HUD home that was…interesting.  I agreed to go see it.  Before I left, CDub admonished me to have an open mind.  because frankly, I’m a bit stuck up about my housing.  But the combination of the location and the price had me getting in my house and making the drive.

The house….has it’s issues. But when you look closely, its all cosmetic.  Stuff HUD would have to fix before we closed.  And the house is older, so it needs updating. Especially in the kitchen.  And I would have to sacrifice my cave of a bedroom, for one that’s almost on the small size. But the house itself is bigger than our current house and is beautiful.  More to clean, but I can see how it could look after I got through with it.

Sooo, we are going back this weekend so that C-Dub can see it and we’re bringing a contractor to get estimates on some of the work that would need to be done and things I want to do( especially that kitchen!).

So we’ll see.

We’ll see.

House hunting is both fun and daunting. In my last house, I had everything I wanted and it was a HUD. There are a wealth of almost new HUDs on the market if you guys want to cut costs on price but fancy it to your tastes.

Can’t see what you all select.

The older houses have good bones if you get it for the right price and can fix it up then it might be a good deal. Good luck

Good luck, agree about older homes although sometimes the rooms are smaller.
