On the Mend

He’s feeling better.

coned copy

We have an appointment tomorrow with his dr to discuss his asthma plan.

But of course, nothing can be easy with this here child. He developed a strange case of hives in the middle of the night. And what was strange was, they kept coming back. They would go away, come back. I washed all sheets, scrubbed down all surfaces. Changed soaps, eliminated meds. And still they come.

And I have no idea what’s causing them.  I think it was the wrong soap I used DAYS ago when it first happened. But if so, and I’ve eliminated it, why do they keep appearing???

They were so bad yesterday morning that I took him to the ER.  His back was one big welt.

And what really pissed me off, was that no one seemed to have a concrete answer for what was wrong for me.  They gave him Benadryl and sent him home with a prescription for Zyrtec.

HUH?

I was so frustrated when I woke him up and saw him COVERED with Hives. I mean just COVERED.

I cried.

1) for my baby. Can’t he just ever be well?

2) for me. How much longer can I keep a job if I keep calling in? I have no time I am in the negative.  I used 3 hours of comp time to get Pookah to the ER and back home.

I’m just…frustrated and tired and exhausted and stressed and fat and my biggest pair of pants were tight and I think my period is coming.

OK, TMI there but that’s that.

Sigh.

End Rant.

P.S.: CDub is doing fine. It took him 5 days to recover.

** UPDATE** Pookah went to school this morning. There were no new hives. His arms still are covered with what looks like old bruises( the hives fading). But no itching so I sent him to school!!! *praise dance*

I so understand where you are coming from and I want to say life does get better for your little one and for you. At some point they outgrow the things that are sending them into crazy episodes.

Our youngest (when we lived in WI) would wake up in the morning and be absolutely fine, by the time she made it from her room to the front living room she was covered in hives and itching like crazy. Mind you she hadn't touched anything or drank anything or done anything except get up out of her bed and walk to the living room. It drove me NUTS! We had our landlord deep clean our carpets not once but 3 times with an all natural cleaner (it cost her some big bucks), we washed all of her sheets in hot water ONLY, didn't touch her until we had washed our hands and stopped kissing her until we had brushed and washed our faces... and still she would break out and the doctor's had no idea what was wrong or how to fix it. We dealt with that for almost 2 years and then one day it just stopped happening, and I just did a praise dance and kept moving.

Hang in there, and breath! Sending hugs and prayers your way...

I echo Quiana's comment. I think about Pookah often as well. It may be because he and my son are just a few days apart. I dunno. While he certainly has had more than his share of challenges, I see him (in pictures) smiling through it or bouncing back from it. He is one resilient little boy. Maybe that says something about how he'll handle life's challenges as he grows up? I'll keep him (you and CDub) in my prayers.
