I have to veer away from my usual topics this morning.
We have a new president ladies and gentleman.
It is amazing that just 5 years ago, we had never heard of him. It is amazing that 2 years ago, he was a long shot. It is amazing that last night, Barack Hussain Obama became the first black man elected to the position of President of the United States of America. It is a day that my mother and father, who grew up in segregated Alabama, never thought would come. It was with honor that they voted yesterday for this man.
I am in awe. I am elated. I am humbled. I am blessed.
When my child looks at me and asks, “can I be anything I want to be when I grow up?” I can honestly say YES YOU CAN!
I am a proud African American today. I am a Proud American today.
Change has come.
