Sleep Chronicles

I thought we had moved past this issue, but in the last week, Pookah won’t go to sleep without a fight.

It started simply enough.  Pookah just wouldn’t go down to sleep like he used to.  It took about 1 case of pick up/put down before he went to sleep.

But then, it escalated to he wouldn’t go down at all without an hour long fight.  And last night……well last night was AWFUL.  It escalated to a full out WAR: Mommy vs Pookah.

I lost.

It got so bad that I had to put him in his crib and leave the room.  (He was screaming his head off of course).  I had to send C-Dub up to finish the job. SMH.

And then, to add insult to injury, he is waking up around 3-4 am and not wanting to go back to sleep unless I bring him into our bed.  I don’t mind co-sleeping so much at that time of morning, but it’s a dramatic change from the usual, “I wake up, change my diaper and I ‘ll go back to sleep routine” that I’m used to.

So now I am at a loss at what to do.  Try crying it out again? Was it maybe the excitement of having my parents here all week?  Maybe he was too wound up before bedtime and needs a sort of “cool down” period before bedtime?  That one would be hard.  His Daddy usually arrives about 15 to 30 minutes before his bedtime and they usually have daddy and me playtime until it’s time for his bath.  Should I maybe move his bedtime up to 8 pm instead of 7pm? Is this a phase that has something to do with a developmental milestone???  ( He is working on walking and talking pretty hard).

Whatever it is, I am at my wits end.  I am almost thankful tonight that I’m going to work and that it will be C-Dub’s duty to get him to sleep.

Sigh.

Any suggestions???
