Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Disney Princess Training

Stream of Consciousness Sunday . Hosted by Allthingsfadra.com

I’ve been training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon for the last 3 months. I haven’t shared much because I wasn’t sure if I could do it…..

Stream of Consciousness Sunday . Hosted by Allthingsfadra.com

So I spend the last week being lazy. That is, instead of running/training for the Disney Princess Half Marathon that is less than a month away, I sat on my tail and ate everything that passed in front on my face. Total fail. I finally talked myself into going for a run when I got my bib number for the race on Tuesday night.  My alarm went off at my normal running time of 430 am and I talked myself out of it. But I put my running clothes on and as soon as I dropped off the boy at school, i headed to the gym. I got on the treadmill and warmed up. Bombs over Baghdad by Outkast came up and I started to run.

And I smiled.

It was the first time running, that I have felt that joy when running. Ask anyone and usually i say something like, i hate to run. But at that moment, after not running for a week, I felt such a JOY. I FINALLY, after 3 months felt that running high I’ve heard about and have been waiting for. And it was glorious. I ran again on Friday, thinking it might have been a fluke, but no. BOB came on and off I went, just grinning. Today, I am running 10 miles. TEN WHOLE MILES AT ONCE. I’ve never done that. EVER IN LIFE and didn’t ever think i would want to. It just goes to show me that the impossible is possible.  So check me out on the  Nike app while i’m running. I’ll be the one smiling.

UPDATED TO ADD: I only made it to 7 1/2 miles due to some unfortunate stomach issues that um….stopped the show….. WELP!

STOP

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Link back to this post  over at All Things Fadra (feel free to use the SOC Sunday graphic).
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.

Excellent!!!! I don’t know what a running high is, but you made me want to jump up and get a walking one. After I comment on the last SOC link then I”m going. Thanks for the motivation. 10 whole miles AT ONCE is awesome!

Oh how I long for that running high. The only time I’ve gotten a high is when I’ve finished because I no longer need to keep running. I’d like to regularly run 5k races. No more than that. But I guess I have to walk before I run. Good for you!

You need to run like you get free Starbucks on a daily. I don’t run unless something is after me but I want you to continue on you got goals you gotta complete.

Yes to that 7 1/2! I’m the same way with the elusive runner’s high, but every now and then it kicks in and it is a great feeling. I’m not running the Cooper Bridge Run in March, but my goal is to run someone’s 5k this year.

I love this steam of consciousness idea! I told myself I wanted to focus on meditating more and they stay start with 7 mins silent with a timer…I suppose I could do this method too! Thanks for the insight!

I used to be a very serious runner and the problem with running…..

Is those unforseen stomach issues. I’ve been in the middle of a half marathon and had that, I was looking for the nearest port of john I could find!

Just keep it up!! You can do this and I hear that Disneyland Princess half is one of the funniest and easiest as far as terrain goes!

Get it girl! I am so excited for you. I remember my first experience with runners high. It was wonderful. Now I’m just here waiting for the all clear in a few months so I can start from scratch! I’m looking forward to it.
You will rock the princess half. Can’t wait to read your post race update.

OMG you seriously rock! 10 miles???? Like, at once and not over several years like it would take me? LOL I’ll be rooting you on from afar, that’s a great accomplishment! I need to get my tail together and get back to working out myself.
