Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Sisterfriends

FADRA’S BACK!!!!!!!

I am so happy to say that Fadra of All Things Fadra is once again hosting her weekly Stream Of Consciousness Sunday Post! I feel like I’ve been doing this so long and even when she stopped, I kept going because sometimes, you just need a brain dump. So without further ado…

Stream of Consciousness Sunday . Hosted by Allthingsfadra.com

I have a group of friends, with kids the same age as Pookah. Every once in a blue moon, we get together, throw the kids in the basement with food and toys, and sit around upstairs with food and alcoholic beverages. Usually several bottles of wine.  We hadn’t had one in a while, maybe since the fall.

But yesterday morning, I got the text that there would be one that afternoon. Be there or be square so to speak. you know how you have your day already mapped out sometimes and you already know what you are going to do? Well, said playdate didn’t fit into my plans, but I decided to move things around and go anyway. I went for my long run earlier than I planned and then rushed home to get ready. But my stomach rebelled. Poor planning on my part since I hadn’t hydrated well enough for the 7 miles that I ran.  And then, just as I washed my hair, my blow dryer fell to the floor and broke. So I had wet locs and no blowdryer and it was 40 degrees outside. At that point, I seriously considered just laying in bed and not going anywhere. In fact, I took my clothes off and laid back down.  But Pookah was looking at me with soulful eyes so I got up and made my way there. ( I mean it’s really only down the street).

The beauty of having friends , real friends with kids and who are nurses like your self, is that they don’t mind if you blowup the bathroom and you already know where the cleaning supplies are.  After my stomach settled and a bunch of water later, I was so happy I came. Four bottles of wine, empty food platters and 4 hours later,  I felt better both in body and spirit. Because in this new year, even though I am struggling to FOCUS and be great and all of that, it’s nice to know some things remain the same. Like having sister friends who love and nourish you, and let you vent and cry and use their bathrooms when you stomach is in rebellion.  It was a good day.

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Link back to this post (feel free to use the SOC Sunday graphic).
  • Add  your post (be sure to use the permalink to your post, not your blog’s URL; and only NEW posts please).
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.

Wow!!! 7 miles! You had a great run. I admire runners. The most I've ever run is 3 miles. One day I'd like to try to run more.

First of all, 7 MILES???? I need to do whatever you're doing. And yes, I've had many of those days that don't go as planned but I find if you go with the flow, it ends up turning out the way it was supposed to.

I love having friends like that. We call each other sister wives!
