39 weeks 4 days.

My aunt(my father’s sister) had a stroke.  It seems that she had the stroke on Saturday, but no one knew.  The only reason she’s in the hospital right now is that when no one could reach her by phone, her daughter sent the cops to her house.  They found her on the floor of her kitchen unconscious.  Thankfully, she was alive.  They rushed her to the hospital to run tests and they confirmed that she had a stroke.  She’s not moving her right side and can’t talk.  But she’s stable.  My parents and brother were supposed to come up here today, but they stayed an extra day to make sure she was alright.  She’s doing as well as can be expected right now.

And in pregnancy news……

So no baby.

I thought for sure I was going into labor last night: backache, menstrual like cramps, headache…….

But no.  The contractions went away and I went to bed.

So today, I went to the OB and after waiting almost an hour, I got checked out.

Weight: Same. (Yeah me!)

Heartbeat : Hard to find today.  He seems to be turned in some strange position.  But it was its regular 140s.

Cervix: 1 cm.  Yes, I’ve regressed.

The baby’s head seems to be sky high, but she did manage to touch it today.  Can you say……..PAINFUL?????????

Then, she proceeded to strip my membranes.

OH. MY.GOD.

I don’t want to do that again.  EVER!!!!!!

So, I did come away with a plan.  If I don’t deliver by this weekend, I have an appointment scheduled for Monday.  They will do an ultrasound to see how big he is, how the fluid looks, how he looks.  And then schedule a date for induction.(sigh)

Well, at least there is a plan.

I am so sorry about your aunt. How scary. My dad had a stroke several years ago while my mom was gone for several hours. He had the awareness to call 911 but couldn't speak. Because he was on his cell phone, they couldn't locate the house. They were able to find the general neighborhood, but when my mom got home there were ambulances driving up and down the street. She went in and found him, and then flagged down the ambulances. Unfortunately our small town hospital was not equipped well to treat his massive bleed and he ended up passing away a week later. It sounds like your aunt is getting great care, and I wish her a good recovery. The membrane stripping sounds awful! I hope that baby boy makes his appearance sooner rather than later. Maybe some turkey and mashed potatoes will get him going!

I was wondering about you yesterday; you hadn't updated in a while and I was wondering if you'd had your baby or were in the process!

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, but I'm glad they got to her in time to get her in the hospital.

So, you're pretty much the 100th (or.. you know, like, 10th) person to tell me that stripping membranes sucks and I think I'll be avoiding that. Yeah. It sounds just awful. I'm not real sure what the point of it is but I do know I don't want any part of it!!!

Sending you labor vibes!

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. And I agree with LadySpade The Queen - Praise God they found her in time to stablize her. I'll keep her lifted in prayer.

Now for that other stuff..........the stripping of the membranes............that put me on the floor! *crossing legs and laying on my side moaning*

Baby Dub will be here soon MyFriend!

I was on the ceiling! I think I had an out of body experience. I had to immediately go to the cheesecake factory for some Red Velvet Cheesecake.

Wow, thank God they found your aunt and that now she is stable. I hope her recovery and rehab will be positive. Lots of speech, physical and occupational therapy ahead!

Also that little boy is extra stubborn! Those cervical checks are no joke! I bet you look at your old patients in a whole new light. Hope he comes soon and safely!

I had a similar appointment today, except I'm just 38 weeks 2 days. No talk of induction just yet for me, but I'm just 1 cm dilated. They also had a difficult time finding the heartbeat for me....freaked me out a little, but I can still feel him moving so they're not worried. Anyways, I'm sorry to hear that you're in baby limbo, and I can definitely feel ya on that.
