5 Must Know Disney World tips for First Timers

Planning your first Disney Vacation and looking for Disney planning tips? Check out this list of must know Disney World Tips for first timers.

It’s so exciting when you have your first Walt Disney World vacation on the horizon. But like I’ve talked about before, it takes a lot of planning to pull off the perfect trip!! Especially at Disney World! But since I’m such a planner, planning vacations, especially Disney vacations, is something that I love.  Since we’ve been a few times, I know that there are so many things you have to consider before you go on a Walt Disney World vacation to make sure you have a great trip! To get you started, let’s start with this short list of my Disney World tips for first timers.

5 Must Know Disney Planning Tips for the Ultimate Vacation

Plan for and Know What Kind of  Weather to Expect

The weather in Orlando can be tricky! Especially during the summer when it is hot and humid and thunderstorms happen every day. Planning ahead for the weather forecast will help you properly pack and plan your vacation schedule.  Things like ponchos, umbrellas and how to use those rainy times to take a break in your hotel or at a restaurant.  Make sure you keep tabs on the weather throughout your vacation so that you can make adjustments to your plans ahead of time.

make sure you Know the Schedules of All of the Parks

The best way to get more out of your time in Walt Disney World is to be aware of important times regarding the parks. Make sure you find out when parks are opening and closing, as well as which ones have extended times like Magic Hours and Disney after Dark.  Also, make sure you check in the app to know when the parades and street shows are taking place so you can know where to be, or which areas to avoid.

Work out what Your Budget is BEFORE you go

Knowing what your budget is BEFORE you go helps you to plan your Disney Vacation without going overboard!  Although Walt Disney World can be expensive, you would be surprised how much money you can save just by being aware of your spending, planning ahead or sticking to a budget plan. Decide on if you are going to get a meal plan or if you will eat mainly outside the park only doing one or two character meals.  When we go, we have water and groceries delivered to our resort room to cut down on money spent in the parks. And don’t forget about souvenirs! One of my favorite things to do is to search for Disney paraphernalia BEFORE you get to Disney World!

Plan your modes of Transportation

Walt Disney World offers complimentary Transportation all around property. Different resorts have different levels of access to transportation. For example, although the monorail is free to everybody, it only stops at three resorts. Make sure you know where drop off points are and plan for wait times to get to and from the parks depending on how far away your resort is.  If you stay off property, plan for travel time to and from the parks and even travel from the parks to the parking lot! Your transportation plan will play a key role in your Disney World experience.

Know You and Your Families Limits

Go at your own pace, and don’t try to take on too much while you are at Walt Disney World. Remember when we tried to do Disney World in one day? That didn’t go so well because I forgot about my family’s limits!  There is a lot of walking and a lot of distance between most of the parks. A day of leisure or regular breaks at least is so necessary to help you enjoy your time at Disney World!    Be careful not to overload your days when you plan.

So there are 5 Disney World Tips for first timers. Hopefully, this helped you have an idea of where to start with your Disney World Vacation planning. What are some of your tips planning the ultimate vacation at Disney?

These are BY FAR the best Disney tips I have seen anyone write, and we go to Disney often (about once a month). You see people go into intricate detail of booking dining or Fastpasses and what to do on what days, etc etc. But for any newbie, these are so much more important! Disney can be incredibly overwhelming and its so hard not to try to do it all at once, especially when you are spending such large amounts of money to be there. I've said it many times, but I always advise people to stay offsite first, learn a bit about Disney and save ALOT. Then you can better prepare yourself for the next trip, and you won't feel like you wasted money to be there :)
