Mama’s Night Out: Blogalicious ATL Meetup

Mama got out the house on a WEEKNIGHT ya’ll!!!!  Thursday night, I headed out to The Hudson Grill in Midtown Atlanta to attend ATL Blogalicious meetup hosted by Ronnie and Lamar Tyler over at Blackandmarriedwithkids.com.

Blogalicious ATL

I won’t be able to attend Blogalicious this year, but I wanted to make sure I made it to this event.  I remember when the meetup was held last year.  I wanted to go, but I was working nights, or weekends or something odd, and couldn’t get to it.

I am sooo glad I went.

You know, I follow a lot of great people on twitter, and sometimes, I don’t actually realize that they actually LIVE in Atlanta. SMH. It was great to finally meet people like @JaiStone, @askwifey  @bossygirl1980( hey girl!!) and a host of others.

But anyhoo,  I had a great time, learning and relearning about blogging, working with brands, and working with traditional media.

First up was Emily Stone from Fox 5( @emilyfox5ATL).  She had some great tips:

  • When traditional media searches out bloggers, they are looking for someone who is an expert or a resource.
  • Video on your blog helps, because it shows that you are comfortable in front of the camera.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted realiable source
  • Make your contact info visible on your site!
Next up, were the founders of Black Girls Run: Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks.  I must say I was sooo inspired by these two women. I have been thinking about getting back into running and just being in the same room with all that inspiration was just…inpiring! LOL.  Even more so when I won a giveaway for a black girls run t shirt! I have plans people…plans…..

The last topic of the night was Multiple Streams of Blogging incomes.  This is, of course, the topic that ALL bloggers, secretly or not so secretly, are looking for.  There was lots of advice from selling your own ads, getting a newsletter, and affiliate marketing.

I must say I really enjoyed being at this event. Besides the learning aspect, it was just great to see and meet fellow Atlanta bloggers. Folks I only chat with on the twitter.  I soooo wish I could have gone to Blogalicious this year in Vegas *cries* but….it is the hubby’s birthday sooo…..

But anyway, fun times.  I loved every minute of it. And loved that working dayshift allowed me to get out of the house and enjoy my city for a few hours.  And hopefully NEXT year, I can make it back to Blogalicious!

Blogalicous ATL drinks..
