Breastfeeing tales….

Once again my friends….

Breastfeeding is hard.

No, I take that back.  Once we got the hang of it, the actual act of breastfeeding is pretty darn easy.

In the beginning, my latch was all wrong, my milk hadn’t come in, and CJ had swollen nasal passages from being suctioned so much at delivery.  Therefore he was congested, and couldn’t breathe well out of his nose.  Hard to suck and breathe at the same time.  🙁

But all of that cleared up, and the milk came in full force.

And so did his appetite.

The boy can eat.

At 6pm, 7pm, 8pm,9pm…..11pm……1 am, 245pm….330 am…..5am………..

You get my point.

Now in a way for the last 4 days this was good.  CJ had lost lots of weight by his first peds visit on Monday.  He was down to 7 lbs 4 oz from 8 lbs 1 oz just 4 days earlier.  Yay for me that when we went to the pediatrician today, he was back up to  8 lbs 1 oz.  The lactation consultant was amazed!  “What’s in your breast milk??” she  kept asking???

Super grow, I replied.

But I am dead tired.  Exhausted really.  I fall asleep when he’s at the breast.  He’s usually still wide awake when I come to with a start.  he has a way of staring at me as if he know exactly what’s going on.

Cutie pie.

He’s a remarkably good baby.  He only cries when his diaper is being changed.  Doesn’t like the cold on his boy parts I guess.

Well, let me go now and try to take a nap while he is napping.  The lactation consultant today said that I shouldn’t wake him up to feed at night anymore, just to let him wake up on his own now that he’s gained back all his weight.

HALLELUJAH!!!!

Now, if only he will sleep more than 1 hour at a time………

It was put to me this way once: What kid doesn't like titties? Crude, I know, but you had to see the truth in the statement. You sound like you're coping really well. He's such a cutie!
