early morning irritations

A co worker told me(when I was telling her that my appointments are now every 2 weeks) that sometimes she skipped appointments because:

Quote” who really needs their weight and bp checked every week?”
She is one of those who had the “perfect pregnancy”:
She got pregnant on her honeymoon on the first try.
She never had morning sickness.
She was never uncomfortable.
She never had any swelling/bp issues.
She even had a c-section at exactly 40 weeks(without labor) planned because her baby was 9 lbs 8 oz.
She breastfeeds with no problems,
and has a perfectly cute kid.
Yeah, I hate her guts.
Just kidding.
Kind of.
Sort of……

I wanted to say: ” some of us aren’t comfortable skipping appointments”.

Besides, why would I want to? I “like” BP checks and chatting with my midwife and hearing the baby’s heartbeat!
I think this just highlights the differences between those guys who have everything go right and those of us who have had everything go wrong.

But even so, that kind of irked me.

The fact that she is a co-worker scares me a little. That's just stupid and irresponsible. Even for a 1st-timer with really good luck. I assume she doesn't know you that well, since she would even suggest such a thing after what you've been through. I'd have told her that you need every single appointment, and are grateful to get them, and if she wants to put her baby(s) at risk, have at it. But I'm a teensy bit anal-retentive.

Bah! Your co-worker is naive. One day life will hit her hard and she'll crumble cause she's had it so easy. You don't want to be like that. You're strong and informed. Knowledge is power and all that crap.

omg, i swear we're twins. this reminds me of my friend who said that the whole time during her pregnancy, she never knew how far along she was only what her due date was and that her doctor said everything's fine. it makes me feel like my love for reading about baby stuff and joining forums, chatrooms, etc is overkill. but for some of us, we LOVE all stuff related to pregnancy and baby. Like going to the doctors and hearing the heartbeat.

ugh, I think i would have said exactly what you were thinking, if my doctor wanted to see me every week, i would be there :) but i tend to say too much sometimes, as the years have passed my filter had developed holes.
