Everyday Eyecandy…In Black and White

I’ve been in a bit of a rut as far as photography.

Couldnt tell?

Well good.

But do you ever feel like you are doing the same thing over and over again?

Well yes. That’ s me and photography.

So, what do photographers do when they are in a rut?  They start a project.

And what’s my project?

Black and White Photography.  Only. Everyday. For 30 days.

Don’t worry, there won’t be one on here EVERY day.  But if you like, you can click on this link to my Tumbler Blog:

Or you can just click on Everyday Eyecandy in the menu at the top of the blog. ( Follow me!)

Great picture. I am such a fan of black and white pictures. It’s amazing what you notice with the absence of color. 🙂

Yay a new project! I need to pick my camera back up for good. Now that the little one is getting older it should be someway easier.

Now about this picture–I love how your son’s face just seems to be illuminated. Almost like it pops out at you. And the placement! Like people see their cars as their babies–you managed to put all 3 babies in the picture.

I like it. How do you get the clear close shot with the blurry back. I so need to know this. Pookah is such a big boy now.

It’s all about aperture and how close your subject is to your background. A wide aperture and being close up to your subject will make your camera/lens focus on your subject. Thereby leaving the background out of focus. if you are not comfortable shooting in full manual, try changing your camera to aperture mode. Then, you can better control your aperture while your camera does the rest for you.

    Love it!
Are you shooting in monochrome & RAW or RAW and editing to b&w?

I’m shooting RAW and then editing to black and white. I wanted to push myself to learn how to shoot specifically for black and white and to work on my conversions

These black and whites are awesome! I end up taking jpeg and raw photos together (which means i have 2 of every photo on my camera and on my omputer) but anyways I am so not good in photoshop, aperture, adobe… none of it. I have tried out somethings but it never looks like I want it to so I tend to not edit any photos beyond what is done in iPhoto… *sigh* I need a class or two…

Photoshop confuses me so much! I can do one thing in photoshop well and I stick to it. Try Lightroom! It’s so easy! And intuitive. Or if you don’t want to spend any xtra money, try pic monkey.
