He just wont do it

SOOOO.

Yes, I’ve been missing in action.  I of course, have a lot to say, and little time to say it.  But the most pressing thing I want to talk about right now is this:

I start back to work next week, and Pookah won’t take a bottle.

I’ve tried different nipples, I’ve tried different people giving him the bottle, I’ve tried not being in the room, I’ve tried giving it to him when he’s hungry and giving it to him when he is semi hungry.

He is not fooled.

What am I going to do?

When I’ve left him with my mother or C-Dub, he just wont eat.  Luckily, I’ve only been gone for at the most 4 hours and I always fed him right before I left.  But when he sees that  I am not there, he just refuses the bottle.  Or puts up such a fuss, that you don’t even want to give it to him. I mean crying and looking sooo pitiful.  Like he’s saying,

WHY WHY won’t you just give me what I want!!!

C-Dub did get him to take it once.  I think he was just worn down.  And when he saw me again, he latched on for half the night.

Aye Dios Mio!

Any advice out there?

Have you tried dreamfeeding him (you know, feeding him when he's asleep)? Some people use this to get their babies to sleep longer stretches at night, I simply nurse my baby after he falls asleep because he's not feeding well when he is awake (he gets distracted easily). It's supposed to work both for nursing and bottle feeding. And my baby book suggests it for babies who refuse the bottle. And once he's taking it while asleep, he might get used to it and take it when he's awake as well. At least, that's the hope... Of course, he needs to fall asleep before you can try dreamfeeding, which he might not do if he's crying for the breast... but if he does, it's worth a try...

ugh, no advice either. (we suck huh?) I just wanted to say that I've been given that pitiful look before too...only when we put Kaua in his carseat. He hates being in it. but it's something we have to do so I muster through it, but I feel so bad, when he gives me that look of "why are you doing this to me?" It's for his own good.....maybe you can muster through Pookah's looks too? Somehow?

I'm so sorry! I don't have any advice either. I've got almost the opposite problem. Our baby doesn't want to work at nursing after she's had the easy quick flow of the bottle. Maybe after 4 hours he will get so hungry that he gives in? How heartbreaking to watch though. Good luck in finding a solution.

I don't have any advice, but I'm sorry that The Pookah won't take the bottle. He truly is a Titty Boy! ;)
