Introvert Confessions

Did you know that I am an Introvert?

I’m not your traditional introvert, which means I am not shy.

Well, I’m shy, but I’ve learned to move past it.

In my case, I don’t mind meeting new people and talking to friends.

I’m a nurse, I talk to strangers all day about their most intimate moments.

But I like time alone.

I like to read.

I like take solitary walks in the park.

I like to go to coffee houses , find a dark corner, and write in a moleskin notebook.

I really really really like and cherish my alone time.

I loved Blogalicious.

But afterwards, I felt overwhelmed, overstimulated and just…..blah.

But of course, I came right home to a sick child and a husband who was OVER IT.

SO, I  put my need to be alone and recharge aside and just did what I do ( yeah, that superwoman syndrome I was talking about).

But this morning, after running around taking Pookah to the dentist and then getting an estimate on my car after an accident last week( long story, will tell it another time), I had unexpected time left over before I had to get back to the house to log in for work.

I took myself to Starbucks in downtown Decatur.

I love downtown Decatur. It’s pretty, it’s hip, there is a great sushi bar there and CDub and I  got married at that courthouse.

For ONE hour, I recharged.

That’s all it took.

I sipped my coffee, did a little planning and then took an impromptu photo walk with my iPhone in my hand.

Ahhh Bliss……..

I'm definitely an introvert. I like to recharge by getting lost in a good book or crocheting.

Beautiful photos, girl you are my most favorite photog. I get it, my recharge times comes on my runs lately. Conferences are awesome but I agree can be a bit overwhelming...

I have a difficult time with conferences. I love aspects of them, but I also crave time alone. I wander off a lot to get those few moments by myself. Introverts do not do so well in loud, big, active crowds. But we can make it work for us by knowing when to step away for just a second. ... now I want coffee.
