iPhoneography Tips: Rocking the Camera You’ve Got!

I love my iPhone for lots of reasons, but one of the main reasons is the camera. Yep, I’m into iPhoneography HARD over here. I’m always looking for ways to improve my photos taken with my iPhone, and I’m obsessed with Instagram( do you follow me?????)  So I wanted to share a few tips, tricks, etc with you guys. But my first tip isn’t technical.  Because iPhoneography isn’t just about taking better photos.  I feel like it’s about preserving memories too.

I posted this photo on my personal Facebook page last week.

Best friend 2

Even though it was taken in very low light, and is grainy as hell, and I forgot about my flash COMPLETELY, I loved this photo. I HAD to post it.  I got tons and tons of comments on it. Probably the highest I’ve ever gotten on a photo. A co-worker even told me I should submit it to a contest. (????)

“You are so good with that Camera.” she said.  “I need a camera like you.”

“I took it with my iPhone.”

The stunned look on her and another co-worker who had been cosigning was hilarious!

I get this a lot.

People assume that just because I’ve got a big fancy camera( and it’s not really), it does all the work.

I don’t have the time or the energy to explain that it’s the photographer anymore. I don’t even get offended.

But that brings up the point I was going to make today: you can rock your iPhone camera.

Almost everyone carries a camera phone these days. There are times when you just don’t have time to pull out your camera and adjust the settings. I had my Canon with me when I took this shot. But the moment happened in a split second:  I saw Pookah hug his Daddy. Without even thinking, by the time Pookah told him he was his best friend and CDub smiled and leaned his head down, I had my iPhone out and had snapped the photo.

Just. Like. That.

So lesson of the day: Big Girl/Boy cameras are great. But when you are trying to capture perfect “moments” like this one, sometimes, you have got to use the camera you’ve got right at that moment. So don’t be afraid! Whip out that iPhone!  And rock it!!!

Note: this post can apply to anyone with an camera phone, NOT just iPhones!

Love this post. It helps that you can access you camera on the home screen too (iPhone). Just got to keep snapping. Eventually I'll get decent, I hope.

Ah, I love father and son photos. Too cute! I prefer my iPhone over my new camera that I have yet to use. It's a simple convience.

I am finding that my iPhone is my go to. Its is lighter and less cumbersome. I won an Ollo clip through Harlem Love Birds giveaway and I am waiting for it to come in the mail. I can't wait to see what I can do with it.

I love this picture! My iPhone is dying so I can't take very many pictures with it anymore. I need to get a new cell phone quick!
