Lessons of True Motherhood

Today is my Birthday.
I had this great post planned about the pros and cons of turning 35.
But Pookah has been running a high fever since Tuesday night.
After going to the Dr on Tuesday and the ER yesterday, it was dawning on me that all of my “me” plan for my birthday might not happen. After all, you can’t send a baby to daycare with elevated temps. And who would want to?
But I will still hopeful, that somehow someway……
You see, my birthday has always been about me. Me, Me, and more Me. I don’t work, I don’t cook, I don’t clean. I shop, I get massages, I eat out.
But now, I’m a Mom.
And its my birthday.
And right now, Pookah has a temperature of 104.6 and I am on my way to the dr for the third day in a row. And any thought of “Me” today has flown out the window and my mind is filled with thoughts of him.
My poor little one.
For the first time, my birthday is not about me, its about my child.
And that, is my first true lesson of motherhood.
