Letters to My Son: Today You Are 8

pookah turns 8

Dear Pookah,

Let me tell you a story.

On the day before Thanksgiving, 9 years ago, I was at work and started spotting.

I was pregnant you see, but only about 10 weeks.

I spotted on and off all day and finally got an appointment to go see the Doctor right before they closed for the holidays at 5pm.

When we got there, they confirmed what I already knew, the baby was gone. I had had what they call a missed AB. The baby was still inside, but no heartbeat.

Your Daddy and I were devastated.

It was by far, the worst Thanksgiving ever.  And I thought I would never like Thanksgiving again.

But God is good.

Because exactly a year later, on the day before Thanksgiving, I went into Labor. And on Thanksgiving Day  you, my baby boy, were born.

You are my miracle.

So if it seems like I always hold you close, this is why.

If it seems like we love on you a lot, this is why

You are our light. Our Joy. Our gift from God

My proof that this too shall pass, that God always has a plan and that everything happens for a reason.

Happy Birthday Pookah Bear Baby.

Love Mama

Your son is adorable! Happy 8th birthday kiddo. Mine turned 7 in November, and all I can think is 'Where does the time go?' Children are such a light and joy in our lives <3.

Oh my goodness. Serendipity. What a story and I'm glad you're able to share it with your sweet boy (and us). Thanksgiving means so much more to your family. Many blessings to you!
