Monday Randomness

Happy Labor Day! It’s time for Monday Randomness!!!

  1.  My milk is drying up.  I’m sad and happy at the same time.  Sad, because I loved breastfeeding, and I’ll miss that relationship.  Happy because dammit, I’ve missed Starbucks Low fat Caramel Macchiatos with extra caramel in all their Venti goodness.
  2. Speaking of feeding my child, why has he stopped eating solid foods just when I REALLY need him to???? (This by the way, will be another full post at another time).
  3. Rapper/actor Clifford “TI” Harris and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Colette were arrested Wednesday night in West Hollywood for drug possession. SMH.  Really TI? Didn’t you JUST get out of  jail? Aren’t you on probation? Don’t you know better?????????
  4.  The Huffington Post lists the worst toys for girls: My personal favorites:Pole Dancing Dolly and Tattoo Barbie.  Because really, don’t we all want our daughters to grow up to be pole dancers with tattoos??
  5. And finally, overheard in my patients room on Saturday night:

Boyfriend: I don’t want him here.

Pregnant patient: (whining) But it’s his baby.

Boyfriend: Don’t make me get you! You remember last night? I will still snatch a bitch up in labor! I’m yo man, not   him!

( This might explain the bruises all around her eye…..)

Pregnant patient: OK baby calm down.

 Boyfriend: You remember last time…..

Me: ( to the boyfriend) OK, security is here to escort you out…..

And do you know that heifer got mad a ME? We were trying to protect her and her unborn child and she got mad a ME????? I really have to learn to mind my own business at work, and not care so much.

Stay tuned…..

She needs to smack herself for dealing with that crap. Just give herself another black eye. I think you did the right thing.

She got mad at you because her boyfriend is a jerk and it's just safer that way. I worked as a nurse for years and this is the m.o. with dysfunctional families- they always took it out on me. Try not to take it personally.

Are you freakin' serious? You are, aren't you. Well, you did the right thing, anyway, whether she wanted you to or not. Sometimes you have to protect patients from themselves, and protect the other patients from the drama, you know? I started drying up at about 4.5 months or so. Fletcher was eating less and sleeping more, and if you think I was getting up to pump when he was sleeping, well...yeah, that wasn't happening. I loved nursing too, but I guess all good things must come to an end. We don't want to be those weird women on the trashy talk shows still breastfeeding their teenager, right? And another thing. 'He's her man now'? WTF? Seriously, dude, you want a woman who's carrying someone else's child?/Seriously, girl, you want a dude that will "snatch a bitch up"? Some people have some seriously low standards/self-esteems. Which came first? The chicken or the egg? Ok, that's enough ADD for one reply.

I took my milk forever to dry up but I was done after 6 months. It just felt like a big kid was on my boob and he was already getting good with the spoon lol. Ohhh and your patient!!! I learned to butt out maybe my 1st year in the hospital between a child cursing out their elderly, dying parent and they parent reporting me for escorting the child out to the abused girlfriend/wife telling me to mind my business when I try to get rid of the jerk boyfriend. Don't know why I'm still on the over night shift.
