New Worries

Soooooo.

Last time we were at the Pediatrician, she said I should go ahead and start transitioning Pookah to whole milk.  I was EAGER to begin.  Formula costs five arms and five legs.

So, I started.  But I started the same week he had the ear infection.  He was on antibilitcs.  I assumed that the diarrhea was from the antibiotics, but stopped the milk just to make sure.

The antibiotics were over on Thursday.  Since the diarrhea was long gone, I decided to go ahead and start the milk!!! I was soooo excited!!!

I started with 2 oz of whole milk vs 4 oz of formula.

We seemed to be alright.

He pooped.  A LOT.  But it was only one diaper and it was…….not diarhea.

Saturday morning, he woke up stuffy.

Damn, I thought, a cold.  Can this child not ever be sick?

But by Saturday afternoon, Pookah was having trouble breathing.  I thought, croup? His nose was pouring.  Something in the back of my mind told me not to give him another mixed bottle.  But , he threw it up anyway.

Slowly, he stopped struggling to breathe and his nose wasn’t that bad.

Hmmmmmm.

gave him another bottle at bedtime.

Up it came.

Diarrhea.

Finally it hit me.  ITS THE WHOLE MILK.

I banished it.

Now, 12 hours later, the vomiting has stopped, but we still have lingering diarrhea.  The runny nose/stuffiness/mucous filled coughs are better.  I gave him benadryl a little while ago, and that took care of the runny nose and most of the mucous.  The cough remains.  I still think he has a cold on top of this.

So, he has his follow up appointment on Tuesday for his ear infection.  This is going to turn into, my child can’t tolerate milk what do I do now visit.

Sigh.

I’m going to have to take him to an allergist.

I just need to know.  I’m tired of finding out the hard way.

And I don’t know if it’s a true allergy or just an intolerance.  Or lactose intolerance.  He eats cheese and yogurt just fine.  NO PROBLEMS.  I’m the same way.

But still.

My poor Pookah bear.

Mommy hurts for him.

Pookah needs to be in a bubble...hahaha...I think the best thing is to take him to an allergist. My sister is allergic to cows milk, it started with the introduction to it after being breast fed so my mom had to put her on goats milks per MD's then similac and till this day at 44 she drinks similac. Hope he feels better!

aww poor pooh! Hope he's better soon. Jasmine doesn't like plain whole milk. I have to make it like a smoothe and mix her fruit jar food that she has refused to eat on its own with the whole milk and she loves that. But u know, she has been stuffy and very snooty and u know whole milk doesn't help that cause.
