Random Tuesday

Hey Folks, it’s Random Tuesday!

I’m behind, I have too much to do, and I have to do it all in the next 4 1/2 hours.

But it’s OK.  So here we go:

  1. Pookah has gotten over his ear infections, but has developed seasonal allergies.  Not surprising since it’s code orange here in Atlanta.
  2. Speaking of Pookah, I have no idea why, but he thought waking up at 4 am was a good idea.
  3. And furthermore since Pookah decided to take a nap in the car on the way to the doctor, he now refuses to take a nap when I really need him to. He’s in his room right now screaming his head off.
  4. Speaking of which, crying it out has never worked for me.  Why am I trying it right now?
  5. Oh, now he’s talking to Monkey Cole.  I hear him giving him kisses.

Ok, randomness off: I was getting ready to type #6, when I heard Pookah say Uh Oh, followed by a big THUMP.  And then…a bloodcurling scream.

My heart was in my throat as I reached his room and found him not in his crib, but on the floor.  Monkey Cole had fallen and he was trying to go get him.

I was devestated.

Everytime I try something that I’m against, something like this happens.

That crib is on the lowest level.  I never thought he would try to jump.

The nurse in me took over and checked for bleeding and broken bones.

When I found none, Mommy Me returned and I just sat there on the floor with my baby and cried and cried and cried.

Finally, he stopped crying just to pat me on the back.

One thing I know for sure….

We need a big boy bed.

NOW.

Everyone is jumping to blame the crib, but what about Monkey Cole?! I say the MONKEY IS TO BLAME!! It's time to start the conversation with Pookah about peer pressure. Cole is putting all these crazy monkey-climbing ideas into Pookah's head while their hanging out and LEAVING OUT the part that Pookahs do NOT come equipped with tails!

While the toddler bed is probably a good move at this time, I think it is also high time to investigate all of this monkey business!

All joking aside, thank goodness Pookah is OK and has a mom who is SO attentive to his every moment that when the day does come to share this tale, there is a blog post documenting it AS IT HAPPENED (that's pretty cool!).

Thanks for sharing with us!

Ah, I laughed at this myself until it got to the part where he fell to the ground and you were having a heart attack! Those moments can seriously be so scary, but then once you find out that your baby is okay (and later, that they somehow are more indestructible than you might have thought!), you look back on things like this and go "Well, I can't wait until you're grown and I can tell you all about the day you just HAD to get Monkey Cole..."

Oh gosh those moments are awful, aren't they? I remember I tried to let my daughter (blog name Peanut) cry it out one night. Fifteen minutes of screaming and then she threw up on herself. Never. Again.

At the end of the day, I have to live with the kind of mom I am. And I have to listen to what feels right. And what feels wrong.

Happy to have found you through #commenthour. I'll be back!

That's what I say, in the end I am trying to do what I think is right for my child. I've finally realized that I have to just go with my gut!
