Saturdays Week 8: On Mom Guilt and Pumpkins

Since Pookah is going to a new school, Fall Break is now a thing. Three days off that I couldn’t spend with him really because…well I work. C Dub works. I spend a lot of time worrying that I’m missing out on so many things since I work such long hours. Yes, I work from home and that gives me some flexibility…  but..I work. I often find my self envious of my stay at home mom friends. Oh yes, I know being a SAHM brings a whole new set of problems and issues, but sometimes I miss the well…flexibility of it. The ability to have the option to volunteer at his school, the option to give Pookah my full attention during homework time because I’m not trying to work and cook dinner at the same time, the option to be ready to plan do things with him on these school breaks and not have to manipulate my work schedule to do so, the energy to do more with him on the weekends. Just the TIME to spend watching this miracle I birthed grow up. I always feel like I’m loosing time because I spend a so much of it working.

He spent the majority of his fall break enjoying endless amounts of TV and video games which…kept him occupied while I worked.  Which of course made me feel like I lacking. So Saturday morning, I woke up determined to spend the day hanging out with him. Luckily, it was a bi week in football, so we could really DO something. I chose the pumpkin patch, he chose the movies.  It was a good day….

It gets hard out her for a mama. I'm a wahm and still don't get to do as much as I'd like. Sometimes it's financial and sometimes it's just household logistics and I can't. But we get in where we can and create memories. One of the things I love the most about being a blogger is being able to capture our moments in a post so the memories are recorded for my kids to see as they grow.

Yes, I've always loved that about blogging. It's like an online journal.

I don't even get to spend time with mine and I'm at home. I need a rich husband. I do what I can and try to incorporate them into my job so I can spend some time with them. We may forgo the pumpkin patch this year.

So happy you were able to spend some good quality time with him. I know your struggle very well. It's so crazy because I keep busting my tail out here in these internet streets just to hold on to this flexibility. So I hear you 100%
