The Ins and Outs of Viability

I am 24 weeks pregnant today, or 6 months exactly.  Time is flying!  I almost want time to slow down so that I can start savoring every moment of this pregnancy.  I fell feel like up until now, I have been walking on eggshells, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

But this morning, I woke up energized, uplifted, happy.

What a difference a day makes.

And now without further ado:

Things that are in:

Viability: Yes that magical week when your child actually has a chance to survive on his own.  Finally, when if God forbid I end of going to the hospital and delivering, the NICU and doctors will do everything they can.  Simply because you are 24 weeks.  WOW.

Exercise: I’ve reached the 20 pounds gained mark as of today.  Need I say more?  I think I’ll start with some basic walking and maybe some yoga.  We’ll see how that goes.

Joy: Self explanatory.

Baby showers: I know some people, don’t like/want them.  But damn it, after all these years of going to other people’s baby showers and giving others gifts, I am soooo EXCITED that it’s my turn!!  Between work, family and friends, I have 3 of them planned!! I don’t even care what I get, where it is, what the theme is.  I’m just so happy that it’s finally MY turn!

Things that are out:

Waxing the lady parts: Ladies( and any gentlemen out there), the wax would kill me. I can’t do it myself, because I can’t see it!  And I don’t trust C-Dub with the clippers so near my special parts.  You see my dilemma.  I can’t have a jungle down there.  I don’t want the baby to have to hack his way out with a machete!

Muscle Tone: It’s all gone.  Yet another reason to exercise.

Me doing my own pedicures:  I just can’t reach my own feet.

and I meant to say "2 more weeks to go till full term" not viability at 36 weeks.

It's funny because most OB/GYN's classify you as "full term" when you are 37 weeks. They automatically add two weeks to your pregnancy at the beginning, counting the whole cycle instead of then pregnancy actually begins. This is why most of the time, I just say I'm "such and such weeks" pregnant. Because I said 6 months pregnant, then said wait......do I have 16 weeks left which equals 4 months, or 3 more months because I am 6 months? It's confusing as hell.

ok, so my question is, is 24 weeks really 6 months? Up until I was 20 weeks or what I thought was 5 months I thought so, but then according to WTE, you're not really 5 months until 22 weeks and not really 6 months till 27 weeks. WTF? I'd much rather say 6 months pregnant at 24 weeks than 27 weeks. but then what do we say when we're 36 weeks pregnant - we're 9 months pregnant? (when there's techinically at least 2 more weeks to go till viability?) How would you tackle this situation?

My husband has actually enjoyed the waxing experience. I told him unless he wanted me trying to take care of the "area" in braille, his ass had better man up! I refuse to pay someone $100 or more for a service I used to be able to perform myself. (Well, not me, but you get the idea. ;) )
