Weekending…..

When Cdub decided that he was going to go to the Alcorn vs Jackson State game, I decided that me and Pookah would take a trip to see my parents. I hadn’t checked on my dad since late  September so it was time.  Plus I was tired of trying to visualize the changes my mother was telling me about my father.

Pookah looooooves to go to my parent’s house. Not only is he in love with my mother( I mean, I’m like chopped liver next to her) but his favorite cousins are there. So he had loads of fun on Saturday with these two..

And for some reason, a nature lesson got started…

My father is….changed…

It’s hard to see the frailness and the uncertancy that has become the man who has always been bigger than life. To see him dependent on others when he has always been oh so independent. To hear him not being able to clearly get his point across….it’s hard.

But to see how my mother still dotes on him.

How she is so patient, so kind, so accomidating and innovative in the face of so much change. So much…dependeance is an amazing thing to see.  Of course, I wish my father would just stop being stubborn and go to rehab so he could get somewhat better and take the burdon off of her, but he won’t so, I guess I’ll stop beating that dead horse.

I guess being married for 45 years will do that for you. I always say that my parents are one of the last group of folks who actually MEANT for better or worse.

They are my inspiration……
