Soooooooo.
I had been referred to the urologist by my midwife because she noticed a “cyst” on my urethra during a routine pap smear.
So, I had been putting off this visit(I mean really, it didn’t hurt and the $50 co-pay was not enticing me to go.)
But I’m one of those females who has a “coochie” mirror and I look frequently(ie daily) at my lady bits. So, a few weeks ago, I noticed this bulge where there didn’t used to be one. So I made the appointment with the urologist without further ado.
So my appointment was today. It was at 1030. I didn’t get seen until 1230. Yes, 1230. 2 whole hours after my appointment time. Great. Great.
So anyway. He takes a look and declares it could be one of two things.
It could be a Bartholin cyst. I’ve had these before. But not near my urethra. If that is it, cut, drain, finished. But the Bartholin cysts that I have had in the past were PAINFUL! What I have now, is not.
Or, it could be a Bladder Diverticulum. Hmmmmm. yes……
But, the problem is, we can’t diagnose either of these without a x-ray and a MRI. And I can’t get either of these because I’m pregnant.
Plus, a diverticulum has to operated on. In the OR. Under anesthesia.
Yes, this gets better. So basically, we can’t do anything until after I deliver.
So, I have an appointment for one week before my maternity leave ends.
What if I end up needing surgery?
Good Lord! Who’s going to take care of the baby?

Try to relax Mama & not jump to the worst conclusions - I know easier said than done. Prayerfully it's the cyst and you'll be done with it. That's my prayer.
And I love the drama of "Good Lord! Who’s going to take care of the baby?" ;)
