Advice Needed! He won’t eat!

Food that is.

Lately, in the last two weeks that is) I’ve noticed that Pookah does not want to eat.

After a rocky start, Pookah has been a champ at eating.  Three meals a day everyday.  No problems.  But all of the sudden( right after the Dr told me that his weight was plateauing too early) he stopped taking those three meals a day consistently.

At first, I thought it was because I was trying to introduce table and finger foods.  He totally resisted those.  Hated the consistency.  So I went back to stage 2 baby foods, and he seemed to be OK.  But lately, he has been flat out refusing to eat food at all.  Turning his head away, pushing the spoon away.

I’m worried about this because at the same time, my milk is drying up and I have to supplement with formula.  But, the not eating started before I had to start supplementing, so I can’t blame it on that.

He just stopped eating.

He’s been getting a little better over the past couple of days, and I managed after  3 tries at 3 different times to get some oatmeal mixed with pears in him this morning.  But that was a fight.

It’s just one more thing to worry about right now.

Any advice out there? Has anyone else gone through this?

My pediatrician gave this advice when my kids were little: they'll eat when they're hungry. Mine never ate well when they were teething, either.

I say just try different things. Princess J doesn't like baby food period. She won't have anything to do with it. So I give her regular food. She loves mac n cheese. She loves veggies. She loves little bits of baked chicken. She LOVES any kind of bread and crackers. And she really liked oatmeal, eggs, grits. I say just try some different things and see what he'll eat.

I agree with Jeanine. It is likely teething. One trick that has worked for me is, when giving my little girl solids (baby food), I run the spoon along her gum line. The stimulation, I would assume, feels good and she will continue eating that way.

Hope this helps! Wish you all the best! -Jessica

Could be teething (so soft, cold foods) but also may miss the breastfeeding contact if you aren't doing it as much.

Wonder if it would help if you found a way to hold him while feeding him (have him on your lap, maybe?).
