WE GOT IN THE PEACHTREE ROAD RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH.MY.GOD!!!!!

What have we done??

This morning, I got the very pleasant surprise of two emails confirming that yes, CDub and I will be running the Peachtree Road Race this year.

Let me explain.

The Peachtree is an Atlanta tradition.  Every 4th of July!  I am determined.  DETERMINED to run this year.  It’s a 10K (OMG).

My first race is a 10K.

A little ambitious huh?

On the one hand, I’m scared to death.

On the other, I’m excited.

And in the middle, I’m challenged.

I have no desire to finish in a specific time.  My goal, is to finish the race.  RUNNING.

Whew, I said it.  It’s out there.

C-Dub didn’t look as excited as I felt, but he looked determined to do it with me! So at least I’ll have support!

At few of my Atlanta twitter friends are also participating in the race, so I’m excited that we might actually get to meet!

Now…….it’s time to buckle down, make a plan, and RUN THIS RACE!!!!!!!!!

  1. I’ve done it twice. Let me warn you, it is not like a typical 10k. There are so many people you truly can’t establish a pace until like mile 4. lol But it’s fun. People on the sides passing out fruit and water. Shoot I’ve even seen donuts, burritos, beer and margaritas.

If I am in town, I’ll def try to come and sit on the sides. I think that is as much fun as running.

  2. Cool that so many Atlanta bloggers got in! Not sure I will be able to spot any of you there among the 60K people but I’ll be looking. That is if I actually do it. I really don’t like the heat but I want to catch this Atlanta tradition once.

You have plenty of time to train! Couch To 5K once and then a 10K plan would more than do it.

  3. Are you doing the Couch to 5K plan? It’s supposed to be a good way to “ease” one into running (you walk-run and gradually increase the amount you run over several weeks until you run the entire time). I started it a few weeks ago, then I hurt my knee, then I got sick. I’m planning to get back on the horse soon, though 10K sounds incredibly far to me.
