Hey Friends! I can’t believe we are already at April and that I’ve been doing these posts for 4 months now. I love it because it keeps me accountable AND you all always have suggestions or thoughts on whatever books I’m reading this month.
April is my birthday month, and when i was younger, a book was always on my list. Several books in fact. My parents could count on me asking. I’ve graduated to bigger things ( read camera things) but I still buy myself a book for my birthday. I haven’t decided what book that’s going to be yet, BUT I still have a reading list for this month full of an oldie but goodie, self-help, a reread and a few more.

1. One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus
I saw this book in Barnes and Noble earlier this year. When i read the back cover, it immediately made me think of ” The Breakfast Club”. ( and if you don’t know what that is…pretend) with a twist. In fact, Amazon says “Pretty Little Liars meets The Breakfast Club”. All i know is that there is detention, teenagers and murder. I put it on my list at the library and it came back last week. Just in time for April.
2. An American Marriage By Tayari Jones
Ok yes, this book was on last month’s list. I tried. And tried, and tried. I could not get past the 2nd chapter.I finally figured it out…I think because I read what the book is supposed to be about and I KNOW what’s coming for the male in the story. But I’m going on a road trip this week and I’m going to finish this book. #theend
3. My Soul to Keep By Tananarive Due
I found this one on the bookcase in my husband’s man cave. It’s mine ( as are all the books in there), but I haven’t read it in years. Maybe 10 or 15. It’s hard to explain exactly what this book was about. Let’s just say it’s supernatural, but my very religious mother couldn’t put it down. LOL.
4. The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton
First, the cover had me reaching for it ( there is a brown girl on the cover). The story intrigued me: Belles in a place called Orleans who control Beauty….Hmmmm. I’ll let you know…
5. Braving The Wilderness Brene Brown
I’m going to Mom 2 next month and Brene Brown is one of the Keynote speakers. I wanted to finish reading this one before May. I’ve had it since January, but I am only half way through it. It’s good! I just need to sit down in a quiet space to really be able to take in everything and get what I need out o it.
So that’s it friends! That’s my “official” reading list for April. I say official because i know some new book will catch my eye and I will finish, or a book will come in off of my list from the library and I will add it in.
So what books are you reading this month?

This month I'm buddy reading Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone. Then I'm reading American Panda by Gloria Chao, Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi and finishing up Children of Blood & Bone. I have to read Song of Blood and Stone by L. Penelope. I'm hoping to get to The Belles and An American Marriage this month after I finish up BookBuddyAthon. Also, I want to get to Dread Nation by Justina Ireland this month.
It's going to be a full reading month to say the least.
