Mama’s Night Out: Blogalicious ATL Meetup
Mama got out the house on a WEEKNIGHT ya’ll!!!! Thursday night, I headed out to The Hudson Grill in Midtown Atlanta to attend ATL Blogalicious meetup hosted by Ronnie and Lamar Tyler over at Blackandmarriedwithkids.com.
I won’t be able to attend Blogalicious this year, but I wanted to make sure I made it to this event. I remember when the meetup was held last year. I wanted to go, but I was working nights, or weekends or something odd, and couldn’t get to it.
I am sooo glad I went.
You know, I follow a lot of great people on twitter, and sometimes, I don’t actually realize that they actually LIVE in Atlanta. SMH. It was great to finally meet people like @JaiStone, @askwifey @bossygirl1980( hey girl!!) and a host of others.
But anyhoo, I had a great time, learning and relearning about blogging, working with brands, and working with traditional media.
First up was Emily Stone from Fox 5( @emilyfox5ATL). She had some great tips:
- When traditional media searches out bloggers, they are looking for someone who is an expert or a resource.
- Video on your blog helps, because it shows that you are comfortable in front of the camera.
- Establish yourself as a trusted realiable source
- Make your contact info visible on your site!
The last topic of the night was Multiple Streams of Blogging incomes. This is, of course, the topic that ALL bloggers, secretly or not so secretly, are looking for. There was lots of advice from selling your own ads, getting a newsletter, and affiliate marketing.
I must say I really enjoyed being at this event. Besides the learning aspect, it was just great to see and meet fellow Atlanta bloggers. Folks I only chat with on the twitter. I soooo wish I could have gone to Blogalicious this year in Vegas *cries* but….it is the hubby’s birthday sooo…..
But anyway, fun times. I loved every minute of it. And loved that working dayshift allowed me to get out of the house and enjoy my city for a few hours. And hopefully NEXT year, I can make it back to Blogalicious!
These are NOT all mine! Trina (@babyshopa) had a few too….
*crying* I sure wanted to go but I was sick but glad it turned out good. And you know all those drinks were yours *side eye*
The Tyler’s are so information. They give great energy. I had the opportunity to attend the Atlanta event last year and had great reviews as well. When is the Vegas event?
The Vegas is at the end of September, 28th & 29th. I want to go so bad, but I’ll shoot for next year. I’ve been putting off video but I guess I need to start doing a few. I also need a media kit put together. Thanks for the tips.
Don’t be putting those drinks on me! LOL
Giiiirrrrllllllll!!!!!!!! Did y’all pour out a little for me..the homie that wasn’t there
It sounds like you had a great time and learned a lot! I made one of the founders of Blogalicious. I can’t remember her name, but I remember after meeting her thinking about how I’d like to go to that conference.
Um this looks AMAZING!! I can’t lie, I was stalking the hashtag a little. Glad you guys had such a good time!!
Blogalicious has been on my list of must attend conferences for the last couple of years. Everyone that has attended has nothing but raves reviews. Maybe next year. And I’m with Kita. Those drinks are all you… LOL!
Hugs and Mocha,
