Day 3 My parents.

Rose and Kenneth.

Married 42 years come Wednesday after next.

They met in college.  Both were chemistry majors.  Both from poor families in Alabama.

Both overachievers.

That my friends is where the similarities end.

These two are COMPLETE opposites.

My mother is church going, sanctified, frugal, soft spoken.

My father is club going, foul mouthed, loud, charismatic.

COMPLETE opposites.

But they have managed to make it work. 

When I have asked how they have managed to last so long ( because lord knows my daddy gets on MY nerves when I spend too much time around him) the answer I receive is

Tolerance.

Acceptance.

Patience.

Kindness.

Love.

That defines my parents and their marriage.

I want mine to be just like it.
