Day 7:My Best Friend

Let me tell you about Rose.

Rose Mary(or my Mommy) is….

Golden.

I don’t know when our relationship changed from mother-daughter to mother/friend-daughter/friend.  Even as a child, she was always the one who I went to talk about my day, to tell my secrets.  We of course, as with all mother-daughter relationships, had a very contentious relationship during my teen years, but that passed.  And suddenly, we were friends.

My mom is my road dog, my ace boon coon, my confidant, my rock, my role model.  She is the only person who I know will listen to me go on and on without judging, but then give me her honest opinion.  Even when she disagrees.  And lately, in my 30s that is, she will ask my advice too!

It is amazing to have a friend as honest, as true as my mom.  She laughs with me, cries with me, scolds me still, and prays with and for me.  She is the one of the first people I want to share good or bad news with.

It’s been amazing to me to come to the conclusion after so many years that she is my best friend.

Me, fat and pregnant, and my best friend!

You are so very blessed, and your post made me smile. My mom stopped being a real mom to me when I was about 12, and I have a very rocky "relationship" with her. Tell your mama you love her often, because it's such a blessing to have a real mom!!

It's such a blessing to have a mom like that! I'm sure you appreciate it and value you it as much as I do my relationship with my mom. I pray that I have the same relationship with my daughter when she's an adult.

My mom was always my best friend. (Even when I didn't realize it, LOL). Every Sunday was Lifetime Movie Sunday. We sat there for hours boo-hooing over ever extremely dramatic movie, LOL. I think a lot of moms today confuse being friends with their child/daughter as being their daughter's peer. It's not the same. She was the truest friend I've ever had.

So true!! My mom and I were never "friends"until I was an adult. Before that, I KNEW she was the parent!
