Drs visit and sleep issues.

Thanks for the suggestions on the name change.  I’m still thinking about it.

So, my first day on my own was OK.  Pookah did me the favor of sleeping most of the morning.  I napped on and off most of the morning, but didn’t sleep too well or deeply. He woke up around 1 for good, took a couple of small naps .  But of course didn’t go back to sleep until around midnight.  And then proceeded not to sleep well all night.

I tell you.

But today was his 2 month check up(yes, we are late. I wanted to be able to go, so…….).

Anyway.  The boy weighs 15 pounds 2 oz.

MY GOD!

23 inches long.

My peds practice has about 6 doctors in it, so I am trying them all.  The one I saw today…….won’t be seeing him again.  I just didn’t like his, “pat the new mom on the head and give her a bone because she is irrational/delusional” attitude.

Hmp.

Pookah has been having what I’ll call skin issues for the last month.  We started with baby acne, which flared up and then went away.  Then, we got the all over his skin rash that comes and goes, leaving dry patches.  So the doc today got a good look at it and says he has baby eczema.  Me and Dr Google are becoming acquainted of course.  I’ll be off to buy lots of products later, I’m sure.

Of course, I got the, “he is getting big, maybe you are feeding him too much. ” speech.  What? You can’t overfeed a breastfed baby!!!!!!!!! And then, the surprise when I said he still isn’t sleeping through the night.

What? What are you doing? Are you picking him up every time he cries?  Ummmmm, yes.  I mean, I’ll wait while he goes through his grunting and groaning and sometimes, he will even let out one cry then go back to sleep.  I KNOW when he’s really awake, and that’s when I pick him up.  And he is ALWAYS hungry.  I’ve tried not to feed him right away in the middle of the night, and that does not work.  When he wakes up, he is HUNGRY!  I know he should be able to go 8 hours without eating.  He has done it!  But my 10 week old still wakes up every 2-3 hours some nights.  I’ve tried swaddling him, and this is why he sleeps as long as he does.  But he is breaking out of his swaddles now.  Sooooo, I’ve taken the liberty of ordering the Miracle Blanket.  This expensive wrap claims that my baby Houdini won’t get out of it and that he will miraculously sleep more hours than he ever has.

Since I started writing this post, the UPS man has come and left said Miracle Blanket. It is in the washing machine being washed with Tide Free as we speak.

So we will see what happens tonight.

He got his vaccinations today. Two shots and one liquid vaccination by mouth.  Poor Pookah, he screamed bloody murder.  That was 3 hours ago. Now he’s cranky and sleeping.  I’m watching him like a hawk of course, Baby Tylenol in hand.

Well, that’s all for now.  We’ll see what happens.

Updates later this week.

I suspect my boy will be large, too. about 2 weeks after birth, he was already up to 8.5 pounds (up from 7 pounds nine ounces.) Our boy is quite the eater, as well. It will be interesting to see what he weighs at his one month visit.
