Let me paint you a picture…….
6am-830 am: Wake up: Pookah’s calling. Leave still sleeping C-Dub in the bed to sleep longer. Take the Pookah downstairs where we eat, play and chit chat about the upcoming day
830am: Feed Pookah breakfast. Say goodbye to Da Da
900am: Pookah down for a nap, scramble to:eat, clean up the kitchen/den, pay bills, answer e-mails, make phone calls, blog, tweet, pee.
1000am-1030am: The boy awakens. Get in a shower while he plays in the pack and play. Dress him, feed him a midday snack.
1100am-1230am: Grocery shop with an active 11 month old who likes to say hi to everyone and pull things off the shelves.
1230pm: Drive home with a now hungry/ tried/cranky 11 month old.
1 pm: Feed Pookah, attempt to put up groceries and entertain my boy at the same time.
2 pm: Pray for a nap.
4 pm: Finally he is down. Time to start getting ready for work: make bottles, lay out pajamas, lay out work clothes, figure out what’s for dinner………..
430pm-5pm: Pookah is up, cook dinner with him angling for any attention he can get(read a book, throw the ball, sing……)
6 -615 pm: C-Dub arrives home I give report, race off to work, praying traffic isn’t bad.
645pm: Grab pizza( soooo unhealthy) in hospital cafeteria for my dinner because I didnt’ have time to eat before I left home.
7pm-730am: Work my ass off with crazy deranged, women. (And that’s just the staff!)
8 am: Arrive home, feed Pookah, get him ready for daycare.
830am-845am: Drop Pookah off. Spend 15 minutes making sure he’s OK.
9am-11 am: Pay bills, eat dinner, blog, tweet, clean up kitchen, den, bedrooms, bathrooms.
330 pm: Wake up disoriented. Look at the time, take a shower, wonder what’s for dinner
430 pm: Pick up Pookah
5pm-7pm: Play with Pookah, feed him dinner. Cook dinner for me and C-Dub
655: C-Dub arrives home from work. Plays with Pookah for 15 minutes while I get the bath water ready.
7 pm-8pm(sometimes 830): Bathe Pookah, do our bedtime ritual, feed him a bottle.
8 pm: The boy is asleep. Try to have conversation with C-Dub, fall asleep during most of it. Eat dinner.
9 pm: Give up, go to bed
12 am: Pookah wakes up. I go get him, attempt to get him to go back to sleep. He wants to play. I want to cry.
2 am: The boy is back asleep. I go back to bed. C-Dub hasn’t budged. Still sleeping soundly over there…..*side eye*
6am: Pookah is awake……….we start over again.
Now. What part of that seems easy to you? Even though I only repeat this scenario about 2 to 3 times a week, there is a 24-48 hour period of time where I get maybe 4-5 solid hours of sleep.
Now, I have to work again tonight. But I go in late, at 11pm. I have not been to sleep yet because the carpet man is here cleaning the carpet. Then I have to put diner on(crock pot). He should be finished in an hour. I will sleep maybe 4 hours( with a wake up at noon to take my pill). Then, I will go get Pookah, still put him to bed tonight, and head on to work. All for those 4-5 hours of continuous sleep. And I get attitude because: “I’ll have to wake up 2 nights in a row and then go to work?”
Excuse me, but ******please!!( insert whatever word you like, I assure you it would be appropriate)
Do you realize that I live on broken sleep? That I have not had a full night’s sleep in 11 months now? That sleeplessness has become my new normal? And you complain????????? All you have to do is work!!!!!!!! And take care of my child 2 or 3 nights a week! Where he only wakes up once ang goes right back to sleep for you!
I just feel like I can’t win over here.
i try not to complain, because it is what it is.
But no matter how many times I try to explain:
