What’s in My Bag

I’m giddy over here, because I’ve always wanted to do one of these posts!!!

I love going to other photographers’ blogs and seeing what gear they shoot with or just what gear they have.

So today I’m sharing. Because hey, that’s what friends do!

To start with, I shoot with a **Canon 7D

whats in my bag 7D

I love this this camera with all of my heart. LOL.  Coming from a Canon Rebel, this is a MAJOR upgrade. I mean, guys, you just don’t understand.  Of course, it is the photographer, not the camera. But again, guys…..this My 7D just makes my life so much easier.

Lens:

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Lens**: I love this lens. It is beautiful. It produces wonderful wonderful macro photos, and is to my surprise, also a good protrait lens. I love that I can get such detail close up, but be way far away and shoot unobserved if I want to.

Canon 50mm f/1.4 Lens**:This was the first lens that I upgraded.  I had a Canon 50 mm1.8, and while the nifty fifty is a great lens, I didn’t really use it much at all.  Until I upgraded to the 1.4.  It opened up a whole new world of low light photography for me.

Canon 35mm f/2 Lens**: Ahh, this is my favorite lens. I have to admit.  It’s a wide angle that is perfect for lifestyle indoors. The 2.0 aperture is fast enough for use indoors and the lens itself is light enough to use as a quick walk around lens.  In fact, this is the lens that I took the majority of my Disney photos with.  I will admit to lusting after the  Canon 35mm f/1.4L **though.  And I’ve heard good things about Sigma 35mm F1.4** version.  Both are on my Christmas list.  It’s never to early to dream….

Canon 28mm f/1.8 **:  This is a wide angle lens that I though would be even better for indoors, but I just don’t use it that much.  In fact, I’m thinking about selling it.  But when I need LOTS of room indoors, this is my go to lens.

Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8** : This is the only zoom I own.  And My 2nd favorite after my 35.  I take this lens with me when we go to the park, we we go in the backyard, when I travel and only want to take one  lens. This is it.  it is so versatile and sharp and some of my favorite photos were taken with it.  I’m looking forward to upgrading this one too.  After the 35…..

Lensbaby Spark** : This lens is a creative lens that I don’t use much, because of the lack of control that I have with it.  But it’s an awesome entry into the world of Lensbaby.  If you want to try out a Lensbaby lens, don’t want to spend a lot of money to do so, and just want the feel of it, try out this lens. It’s manual focus so it takes patience.

Lensbaby Composer Pro with Sweet 35 Optic** : This is the newest lens in my arsenal.  Just got a few weeks ago.  I loved the idea of the lensbaby, but wanted more control than the Spark can offer me.  I just started practicing with this lens and I have a great idea of what I want to do with that lens. Stay Tuned.

Things usually in my bag:

whats in my bag assesories

From Left to Right….

My iPhone: Because I love iphoneography.   And sometimes, my phone is in my hand before my 7D.

CF Card: One of the big changes going from my Canon Rebel to the 7D was the need for CF cards.  I have a 8GB and 16 GB. I don’t like anything larger because  I’m paranoid.  If something goes wrong, all of my photos are on ONE card!! Nope nope….But I always carry an xtra in my bag because you never know….

Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Controller for Canon** : I love his thing. I mean LOOOOOOVE.  It has allowed me to take photos with ME in it! Me and my baby, me and Cdub…just me….  GET ONE!

Lens Pen: Because you need one.  The edge of a t shirt just wont do.

ExpoDisc- Neutral**:  Before I got this, I STRUGGLED with white balance in post.  STRUGGLED. Especially indoors.  But this thing makes it a dream.  And helps me with my goal of getting my photos right SOOC( Straight out of camera).

Snacks: I have to bribe my child sometimes……

Xtra Battery: Because again, you NEVER know. Nothing worse than shooting and your camera goes dead.

Olloclip**: For when you want to add a little variety to your iPhone photos.

Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash** : I have had this for many many many months and have used it only once.  But I’m determined to not be afraid of my flash! Winter is coming and I want options for indoor shooting.
