Letters to Our Sons-November
Dear Pookah,
Three days from now, you will turn Five Years Old.
Five.
Where on earth did the time go?
As I get ready for your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Themed party,
I have to stop and take a breath:
You are growing up too fast for me.
I’m ready for time to slow down now, because I love the age you are at.
I love the questions, the ideas, the observations.
I love hearing you belt out “Tell me something good” one moment and “Say Yes” the next.
I love that you sleep with your cars.
I love that all of them have different voices.
I love your obsession with Cheese.
I love your love for learning.
I love that you love to read.
And I love that you love me unconditionally.
So in 3 days, my brilliant, silly, golden child,
I will help you celebrate being 5.
I can’t wait.
Love you,
Mama

How wonderful! My youngest munchkin turned 6 this summer and I am trying to hold on to him with both hands!
What a wonderful idea and such a sweet, sweet idea. When he’s all grown up, he can look back at these letters. What fond memories he’ll have! It helps you to remember, too.
This is beautiful! I love this idea!
How beautiful! Cherish these moments girl because they do grow fast!
Awwww love this so much. Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles …turtle power will be on. You should start an email address for him with all of these letters and then on his 18th birthday give him the password. I am going to start doing this in the new year with my kids.
Moo’s birthday is in a week! I’m feeling the same way. I had to take a minute to myself last night and let it sink. I never knew these years would fly by as fast as they have. Happy early 5th birthday to Pookah!!
It’s something about 5 that makes me so sad lol time really flew by for these ’09 babies. Hope he had a great bday
This is so sentimental. You got me choking up over here.
We’ve celebrated a few birthdays with you eNephew. We all love you like our own. Do save a slice of cake for me or have your mom mail it all the way to the Middle East! Have a wonderful birthday and being 5 is a pretty big deal.
We are raising the same child. My son turned 5 on Friday AND had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party. WHAT?!
This is beautiful! I always write letters and do these special things for my daughter but I couldn’t think of something as meaningful to do for my son! Why not write him a letter each month?! 😉
