Listen, the clutter struggle is REAL in this house. I mean..if you saw photos….
Anyhoo, I heard about this book from a few friends and since I had nothing to loose…I’m working my way through it and have ALL OF THE PLANS. One of my friends said someting about spreadsheets and stuff….
Listening
I tried…The Weeknd’s new CD. Note, I said I TRIED. I actually like Can’t Feel My Face just like the rest of the world. I can’t stand Earned it. But I was willing to try….but nawl man. I’ll stick to my Jodeci, my Boys II Men, my Erykah Badu, My Jill Scott..Cause nawl. My almost 40-year-old taste is not feeling this new shit. Nope. Next.
Making
Plans to try out Periscope for the month of October. I am not really a video person, which is surprising since I used to VLOG. I’ve been wondering how I could utilize periscope for this blog but couldn’t really figure it out. So I’ve joined up with Melissa over at Blog Clarity and her #periscopewithpurpose. Join up! My Periscope is http://periscope.tv/lashawnwiltz. Hope to see you over there this month! Don’t let me scope all alone! LOL
Feeling
Worn down. I took the week off of blogging and social media to get my life together off line. I realized that I had been neglecting a lot of things in my personal life( like sleep, exercise, eating right) chasing after these bloggy coins. And that has got to stop. I work full time. I mother full time. I try to wife, full time. Blogging and all that that entails needs to be way down on my totem pole. Self-care is the new buzz word, but that’s because we all need to do it. That being said, I miss blogging just to blog. I miss the time when I could blog and not worry about what “value” I’m providing for readers or how pinnable it is or did I used the right keywords. I miss the time when just my words and my stories were the value. I’m going to be getting back to that in the last quarter of the year. Because if I’m going to do this blogging thing, I’m going to enjoy it. If you want to read a blog about real everyday life with pretty photos and an occasional tutorial on doing it yourself, stick around. Cause that’s the plan.
Loving
October.
I admit that I didn’t realize that I loved them until recent years. I’ve been reading old books that I read as a child and a teenager. Last week, I was reading Anne Of Green Gables and this line popped out at me ..
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
Yes, Yes I am.
Planning
October 1st marks the last quarter of the year in the business world. Like I said on Instagram earlier this week, even if you aren’t in business, making a plan for the end of the year is CRUCIAL to enjoying it. After Halloween, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season can break even the strongest of us down. If you hadn’t started already, October is the perfect time to start saving for Christmas/the Holidays and making to do lists. We’ve got Disney in a little over a month and I have plans on top of plans and the to-do list to end all to-do lists going on around here. I’m in full DISNEY planning mode…
So that’s it! What’s currently going on in your life??
Everything is going on in my life. I need to get into my business so I can get away from my real life it’s so bad *sigh* I am here…that’s all I can say for now. I am going to do some of the periscope challenges but not all. This may actually make me watch more persicope because I only go on there if I am super bored.
i love Octobers. LOVE. I’m partial because it’s my birthday month, but it was actually 68 degrees this morning which is almost freezing in Houston. it’s almost 11am and I still have the backdoor open and getting a breeze. miracle.
OMG how good is How To Get Away With Murder.
A lot of bloggers that got into this because they like to share seem to be having the same feelings about it. i hope we get back to the good ol blog hop days lol.
I’m glad fall shows are back although they are starting off subpar. i tried to listen to The Weekend too…I’ll keep it moving lol. I wish I saw the Periscope thing before Oct. I feel like I won’t get to really dive in for a few day, but maybe I will use it to just get on more frequently in general.
I’m in Disney mode too! We’ll be heading that way a couple of weeks before you guys. Made that last payment and now I just have a crazy calmness about this trip. I tend to over plan, so things are set, but I’m open to spur of the moment changes. We go wherever the Disney magic takes us.
Life feels like it’s on the right page right now, my baby is turning 5, I’m approaching 36, Hubby and have broken through our communication wall, and the Holidays are coming. I’m excited about the last few months of the year.
I haven’t renewed my blog. Trying to wait for the bug to bite me again. I’ve got about 20 days before Bluehost totally kicks me to the curb! We’ll see…
I love that first pic!
I hope your entire October is fabulous.
I am glad my good fall TV is back! I am into Scandal, HTGAWM, The Blacklist, and unlike others, I actually like Rosewood. I understand the week break. I took a year off because I was working on a masters and working a full time demanding job that was making me crazy as hell. I wish I had time for a good book! I agree now is a good time to stack those xmas coins.
I am so behind on my fall TV. I am so swamped and worn down as well. I need a vacation desperately. And I agree, I don’t know about this new-fangled music LOL
You know I always love these. I love October, the 18th is my favorite. I turn 36 on that day. AMEN! I love the Periscope challenge, I totally need a challenge to get me in front of the camera an actually using Periscope. I’ve done one scope to date. I also hate the current music and so 96.3/102.3 are so my thing. lol I am enjoying a lot of the shows you mentioned as well as Survivors Remorse.
I’m loving the month of October already. Not just because all my favorite shod ate back. But because i’m off to a great month.
October for me has been really busy so far. I gotta start helping my job prepare to move (I’m not going with them), I have one of my biggest press trips next weekend, blogging, blogging, and more blogging! Me time seems to be nowhere in site for me. I feel you about blogging for the joys of it, that’s what I do mainly instead of all that sponsored stuff. Next year when I’ll be set free from my job, my blog will be more about me living a life free from the 9 to 5.
Just taking it a step at a time! Spending time with the hubby and kiddos and really just loving that place of peace right now…I
This post is very cool. I love the format. Im feeling the same way – so busy chasing coins my health was not the focus. Trying to refocus that!
Omg I’m so excited about scandal! I wasn’t feeling hopeful because I felt like last season was kind of dry but these two episodes so far have been good! I can’t believe the year is almost over! Time has flown!
I looooove this post! So creative and you were able to so elegantly state exactly what I’ve been going through on the self-care/blogging tip. I found that the posts I enjoy the most from people are the ones that are authentic and them just being candid. I am late for the Periscope challenge, but will try to jump in there – yikes!
Loving this recap. Let me just say: I LOVE Periscope so I’ll be looking out for your scopes. I have never been a vlogger, but Periscope makes it easy and fun to connect with people in real time. I love the idea of this challenge too so I will definitely check it out.
So I made plans to join the Periscope with purpose challenge, BUT I’m feeling the same way you do. I ‘m going through some serious blogger burnout so I’m slowly easing my way back in after taking a mini break.
Man! I loved this post. I love your candor when it comes to blogging and your not so awesome listening experience. I look forward to reading what you have next!
Funny you mentioned that periscope challenge. I joined kinda but got sick at the start of the month and feel bad now to play catch up. Smh. I’m still kinds anxious about doing live videos too.
I’m horrible about daily challenges.
I still need to go back and read your e-course on Instagram.
After I wrap up the details for my vision board party 10/17 I’m going to write a concrete plan for the holidays and January for my blog.
The format of this post is cool! A few comments on some of your currently items: I like all of those tv shows but this past year I have not been able to keep up with tv. I don’t know the days and times of things and normally just watch reruns and marathons of everything. I agree that I TOO CANNOT STAND the Weeknd “Worth It”. They play it on every station here in Alabama. Thank you for sharing the periscope with a purpose. We are new to periscope and I think creating calendars like that is an easy way to ease into it. Lastly, I agree that blogging can somehow suck you in and you don’t even realize it. Luckily I have help with the other two bloggers on my blog. Thanks for sharing this post!
What a good feeling post! Thanks for the Periscope ideas. I’m trying to figure out my way with that platform. Love your blog’s name as well. I’m definitely in planning mode for the remainder of the year and need to jumpstart the new year off right with plans already in ink. Great post!
I had to laugh at your comments on The Weekend’s album. LOL! I’m still in my 20s and I barely can hang with music nowadays.
This is why I LOVE me some Lashawn! The way you put words and pictures together is like magic! LOL I’ve been spending too much time trying to build up my blog lately and feel like that damn gerbil on the wheel just going round and round….and round! -_- Hopefully I’ll get my ish together eventually!
