Mr. Robot. The first episode had me like…uh WHET? But now I’m in the middle of the first season and I’m like…ooooohhh I get it…..It’s weird. And it has me changing my password for everything like weekly.  Seriously.


Teen Fiction. Yes, I’m far from a teen, but let me tell you: this new crop of fantasy/action/romance/teen angst books are actually GOOD!  Like the Red Queen Series,   The Throne of Glass Series and the Court of Thorns and Roses Series. I’ve always like action and fantasy books and frankly, good writing is good writing.  But: WHY didn’t they have these around when I was a teenager? I was over there reading age inappropriate Terry McMillan getting all sorts of ideas….


I got nothing. Suggestions?

Healthy food for a change. If you’ve been on Pinterest, you’ve seen those salad jar recipes EVERYWHERE. Listen, they are my lifesavers during the week. Even though I work from home, I figured out one of the main reasons that I wasn’t eating healthy at lunch time was because I was not PREPARED. When lunch time came, I had either too many choices or the choice of something I had to make or buy. And I almost ALWAYS chose the unhealthy thing( those hot dogs at Quick Trip for instance…). But  I make these salad’s in a jar on Sunday and they last me all week-long. If you want the recipe for the one pictured above or a few other easy delicious salad in a jars, head on over to this post!

Being on 21 day Fix. I originally heard about it on Snapchat when Tia ( Chic Stay At Home Mom) mentioned it.  I think I’ve now officially tried every diet/plan on the planet. But the thing I like about 21 day fix is that it is re-teaching me portion control. I could not understand for the life of me why I wasn’t loosing weight when I was eating healthy! Because my portions were enough for 3 people. And I’ve exercised every single day since I started. Including climbing Stone Mountain. Twice. (side eye to MJ). I feel good. My clothes fit a little looser. I lost a few pounds in my waist for ya….

I think at the end of the fix, the scale will have gone down. I took before photos that will never see the light of day. LOL. But I’ll have them for comparison.


A Labor Day getaway. Last trip of the summer right? Summer is officially over on Labor Day and since we haven’t managed to squeeze in another trip to the beach…that will be it! Florida sounds good right?

    I am not watching anything. Turned on the tv for the first time yesterday in about a week. I am waiting for the new Fantasia to drop and Maxwell was blah….I want to go somewhere for labor day too but I don’t know where. I might just go home for that weekend and call it a day. Hit the beach up!

    Hubby and I are sharing the guilty pleasure of watching Power. We’re on season 2. My fingers are crossed for a late summer trip.

    Not a few pounds from the wrist… LOL! I am looking for a new show to binge watch before school starts and the TV gets dusty. I haven’t even thought about a Labor day trip! I have to get started… even if it is a staycation.

    I am just trying to enjoy the rest of the summer. My kid has just three more weeks. I too am trying to cook a little lighter this summer. Salads have been everything!

    Preparation makes a huge difference when trying to eat healthy. Mainly because it’s so easy to pop a few chips in your mouth because you don’t think you have time to cook something. I know I’m guilty of this for myself, but I manage to cook for my kids and my husband. Thanks for this post because it was a great reminder to just take a few extra moments and prepare something nutritious.

    I’m currently… shopping around for a black tie outfit for an event I’m covering on Friday. Shopping for the last few school supply items my kid needs. Sleepy as hell, I just want to lay my burdens down. Eating ice cream when I should be taking my daughters hair out so I can wash it.

    I love salad jars. I had been doing really good with them the last few years and then i got tired (lazy) of preparing and the time it took. But they do help you stay on track. I am about to get my life together AND check out this 21 day fix you speak of. I am indeed intrigued. I struggle with portion control too!
