The selfie or self portrait is here to stay. But not every selfie needs to have you looking at the camera. Check out these photography tips for unconventional self portraits.

1/52: WHO ARE YOU?

You know I love a good self portrait or selfie. Remember this post about upping your selfie game?

Selfies are here to stay, but what do you do when you want something different from your average smile at the camera photo?

You take an unconventional self portrait.

Here are five ideas that will help you get creative with your self portraits:

1. Take your face out of it.: Do you have something about yourself that defines you? Make that the focus of the photo instead of your face…….

2. Do you have a hobby? A Habit? Make that the focus of your photo or show yourself doing it…

3. Focus on a body part: your arms, your legs, your hands….

4. Out of focus: make your shot dreamy or mysterious or creepy by not having it in focus……….

5.Crop creatively. Showcase only part of your face: your eyes, your ears, your mouth…….

All of these photos were taken with my Canon 6D, my Canon 50 1.8 Lens, and my tripod. 🙂
