weekending

My weekend was….

Boring.

In a good way.

Saturday, Pookah woke up at o’dark 30 and I lamented( as I always do) on why is it I never get to sleep past 6 am on a Saturday? And Cdub just rolls over????When did it become my duty to wake up with the boy? I guess when he was still attached to the breast..

Anyhoo.

Cdub got it in his head that he was going to MAKE himself a man cave since I won’t let him have the biggest bedroom for his dream pool table.  He took over what is supposed to be the formal living room.  It had been serving as a playroom/sitting room for me. But the former owners had painted one wall red in there and it bothered me. I don’t do bright crayola colors on my walls well, which is one of the many reasons I haven’t quite felt at home in this house. We need to paint. THE WHOLE HOUSE.  All of this to say that CDub had me at Home Depot at 9 am picking out paint colors.

FINALLY getting rid of the red in the front room! hallelu

After much bickering, we chose a pretty grey color from Behr called Manhattan Mist. It’s so pretty! And it had primer in the paint so it wasn’t so hard to get rid of the red. Pookah helped of course.

Sunday was more of the same, just me rearranging furniture in the den and Cdub’s man cave and plotting on a TV for black Friday.  And grocery shopping and searching for a gluten free pizza Pookah just had to have, and rug shopping, and mopping and dusting and washing clothes and ….you get it. All of the wifey/mommy duties while folks watched football and played on the ipad( side eye to the men folks in this house!)

Now it’s Monday, and thank GOD it’s a short week.  I’m kind of giddy about it because this is the first time in 13 years that I have NO PARTS of working a Thanksgiving weekend. No holiday, no Black Friday, no NOTHING.

I said at the beginning of the year, my goal was to NOT work another holiday. Thoughts are things!

Ain’t God good?

  1. Never heard that phrase thoughts are things love it. The hubs and I fought over the paint also and at the end I let him have it and get whatever he wanted I was tired. Happy short week.

  2. So glad you have Thanksgiving off.
I worked my share of holidays, including Christmas, when I was on TV.
Can you believe some malls will be open on Thanksgiving Day?
When I went to the Mall of Georgia for an OshKosh shopping trip I felt so badly for the staffers who are working ON the holiday. It’s one thing if you work in medicine, like you, but retail?!
The malls being open on Thanksgiving is just ridiculous.

    Sorry for the rant!

  3. Love the color. I know you’ll post pics of the finished room;)
I’m with Kita, love “thoughts are things” and will be using it! Isn’t having the holidays off after working where you didn’t for so long, THE BEST!? Enjoy it! And yes, God is oh so good!

    1. I am so beyond excited to be like normal folks and have the holidays off! And I will put up the finished product! Once I get something in the walks and he puts the tv on the wall!

  4. Mr. C and I have a different taste in colors, but we do settle on one thing–bold colors. Last time I picked the color this time it was his. And I have to admit, I’m loving this red—girl…it’s making me come out of my shell! hahahaha

Glad you were able to change the tone in your home though. You have to do what makes you comfortable! Also, what kind of lens was used in the first shot? Was that a fisheye?

    1. I think if it had been a deeper red I could have worked with it. But it was just a garden variety and it just didn’t work in that small room. It’s amazing how the new color opens up the room!

    2. Oh and the lens is a fish eye lens! It’s the one that comes with the olliclip for my iPhone! I rarely use it but it’s a great wide angle for small spaces! Love it! I might get one for my canon!

  5. This is the kind of weekend my honey and I need. We have to paint our master bedroom. The landlord painted it pink…little girl pink! We’ve yet to paint it, but it needs to happen soon, lol! Enjoy your holiday off girl!

  6. I am with you on the bright Crayola Box colors. Before we moved into our house it was green, orange, blue and red (all bright). Notice I said before, because I had the hubby paint the entire house before I would even move in, I was 7 months pregnant so he couldn’t tell me NO. LOL
