As I get older, and I watch Pookah grow, I often worry about being there for him as he grows up. I worry about my health and to be honest, I often worry about my risk for cancer. There is a strong history of cancer in my family on my mother’s side of my family. This past summer, as my aunt battled cancer for the second time, it made me think more and more about my own risks for cancer and how I can be proactive and assess my own risks.
In 2013, Bright Pink, a national non -profit organization, launched the first-ever digital, interactive consumer-facing breast and ovarian risk tool called Assess Your Risk. Bright Pink is uniquely focused on prevention, early detection and educating women about the importance of knowing their risk for Breast and ovarian cancer. Bright Pink’s focus is on health rather than cancer, focusing on inspiring women to make changes in their behavior that can improve their lives and providing them with the information and resources they need to take risk-reducing action
The Assess Your Risk Tool has helped more than one million women know and manage their breast and ovarian cancer risk since it’s launch in 2013. Bright Pink debuted a new version of The Access Your Risk Tool on October 1, 2018. Bright Pink is optimizing the Assess Your Risk Tool to provide an enhanced user experience and more personalized risk management recommendations. Assess Your Risk will focus on an enhanced user experience and driving toward measurable health outcomes
