These gluten-free chocolate-covered pretzels are one of my favorite gluten-free treats.
Chocolate makes everything better right? Its the perfect way to satisfy all of your sugar cravings! But what if you want a salty treat too?
One of my favorite things are chocolate-dipped pretzels. There is something about the salty-sweet perfection together that is chef’s kiss !
But when you are dealing with food allergies, finding these in the store can be a challenge. I wanted my son to experience this so OF COURSE, I had to make these as a special treat. And then we proceeded to eat the entire batch.
Now while this recipe is gluten-free, it’s for everyone because you can always substitute regular crunchy pretzels. But this is the perfect addition for your special gathering, an easy snack for your kid’s lunch, Valentine’s Day, and edible gifts for any season.
What kind of Pretzels are Gluten Free
So The gluten free pretzel is the star of the show.
Personally, I love to use Snyders of Hanover gluten-free ones and I used the Mini gluten free pretzels in this recipe. The Gluten Free Pretzel sticks will also work perfectly.
But Glutino also makes gluten-free pretzels and they are easy to find in your local grocery store and Walmart.
How To Make Gluten Free Chocolate Covered Pretzels
The recipe only needs salty pretzels and chocolate. ( please check packages on your chocolate to make sure they are free of gluten ingredients.)
- 12 oz bag of gluten-free Pretzel rods or gluten free mini pretzels ( regular pretzels can be substituted if not needed)
- 3 oz pink candy melts
- 3 oz red candy melts
- 3 oz white candy melts
- Gluten-free Sprinkles (of your choice)
- ( note: these are for valentines day themed pretzels. But white chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, unsweetened chocolate and milk chocolate are all good alternatives to make great gluten free chocolate covered pretzels.
So grab your favorite gluten-free pretzels, allergy-friendly chocolate chips and some sprinkles.
This recipe is so easy! It’s a great activity for kids too.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside
Separate your gluten-free chocolate chips into separate bowls by color
Melt the candy in the microwave in increments of 20 seconds. Stir in between
- Pour chocolate chips into a bowl. Use separate bowls for the chocolate and white chips.
- Melt in the microwave on 30-second intervals, stirring occasionally.
- Add pretzels to melted chocolate making sure you have a great fudge coating. Remove with a fork and place on a drying rack over parchment paper to catch drippings.
- White still wet, add sprinkles.
- Place in the fridge about 20 minutes to harden the chocolate again.
How to Store your Gluten-free Chocolate Covered Pretzels.
Make sure your pretzels dry completely before storing in an airtight container or bag.
