Letters to My Son: On the End of Summer Vacation

Dear Pookah,

The summer went by too quickly.

I don’t feel like I had enough time with you this summer.

You had fun: a visit to Disney, Universal, the Beach, Grandma’s House, camp, the pool every week, swimming, football….

And you grew.

on the end of summer vacation

OMG you grew.

Where is my BABY?

He was replaced this summer by this guy….

letters to my son: on the end of summer vacation

This guy that has really interesting opinions about politics, sports, life, and what makes the perfect slice of pizza.

This guy who picks out his own clothes ( and refuses to listen when I say stuff has to match somehow).

This guy who now has chores ( I know you hate taking out the trash, but DUDE).

This guy who is learning the breaststroke.

This guy who now answers all the questions when we go to the dr.

This guy who is starting the third grade in NINE days.

letters to my son: on the end of summer vacation

I feel like I blinked this summer and my baby disappeared and you came in his place.

I just want time to slow down!

But I know it can’t.

That’s why we are going to spend these last nine days of summer vacation soaking up summer and each other.

Because change is coming…

No, it’s here!

But slow down a little bit…for my sake…

Love,

Mama
