Before I went to Jamaica last year, I lost 15 pounds. FIFTEEN. I worked out every day, I was serious about my diet…I DID THAT
And then, we came home.
And then Thanksgiving happened.
And then the Christmas holidays, and travel, and ALL THE GOOD FOOD AND PIE OMG PIE!
I gained back that 15 pounds…+5.
I am now, officially, at my highest weight ever without being pregnant, and that can’t go on. It’s unattractive, it’s unhealthy and dang it, I can’t fit some of my favorite clothes!
So when I knew that my word of the year would be Thrive, I decided that my health is part of that thriving. I need to once and for all, stop all this yo-yo dieting and promise making at the beginning of every year and just get healthy. I’m not getting any younger. I am 4o. FORTY. It’s time to just get healthy and stay that way.
That’s why I was so excited to be given the opportunity to get healthy with Jenny Craig.
U.S. News & World Report named Jenny Craig as a Best Weight Loss Diet earlier this month. Jenny Craig is a clinically proven and recommended weight-loss program designed to provide structure and support to help its members lose weight AND learn how to keep it off.
Each member is paired with a consultant who provides them with one-on-one support to identify their goals, challenges and to help them create weekly meals and activity plans. Consultants provide education on portion control(Much needed over here) and healthy eating habits. My consultant is teaching me strategies such as how to combine the Jenny Craig Meals and Snacks with Fresh & Free Additions that are rich in water and fiber to keep me feeling full longer with fewer calories. There are centers located all over the US, but for members who don’t live near a center, Jenny Craig Anywhere offers one on one support through consultations over the phone or via video chat. I am so glad that with my busy schedule I am able to talk to my consultant Barbara every Friday at a time that’s convenient for me. It’s wonderful to have that support.
NOW, the food. I admit…I was concerned.
But with more than 100 premium menu items created by 40 professional chefs, there is a lot of variety.
Jenny Craig provided me with 3 meals a day WITH snacks. I just have to provide fresh fruits and veggies.
AND I GET TO HAVE CREAMER IN MY COFFEE.
Jenny Craig members can expect to lose an average of 1-2 pounds per week( a healthy range of weight loss). Which is perfect. Because my birthday is in April. That gives me 3 months to get myself together to get healthy with Jenny Craig.
I have an overall goal of losing 35 pounds this year. ( yes, THIRTY FIVE keep in mind I’m short). I think that Jenny Craig can help me to get on the right path.
I can do this. Because it’s not just about looking good in my clothes. I’m not getting any younger. I want to be around for my son and my husband. I want to be able to travel and walk and hike and ride bikes and just be ACTIVE. I want to LIVE a healthy life. I want to BE healthy. I want my health to THRIVE.
