5 Things That You Need to Know RIGHT NOW About Instagram’s IGTV

Yesterday,  we were introduced to Instagrams IGTV, and just like Instagram Stories, I believe it is going to change the game.

IGTV is a new app from Instagram for watching long-form, vertical video from your favorite Instagram creators.  It’s like YouTube, but On Instagram.

WOW.

I’ve been playing with the app since I got access at the crack of dawn and I noticed a few things that I wanted to share with you all so that you can get started using IGTV. Because you want to get in on this. You want to be ONE OF THE FIRST.

So today, since this is so new, I’m just going to tell you about

5 Things That You Need to Know RIGHT NOW About Instagrams IGTV

 

1. So what exactly is IGTV?

IGTV is now available as a part of the main Instagram app and as a standalone IOS and Android app.   Anyone on Instagram can create their own IGTV channel, where they can share long-form videos with their followers. For now, videos on IGTV can be 10 minutes for most accounts, and up to one hour for larger accounts.  Instagram has said that eventually there will be no time limit.  You can watch IGTV videos in the Instagram app, in the standalone IGTV app, or by clicking the IGTV button on someone’s Instagram profile. When someone you follow posts a new video to IGTV, you’ll get a notification in the native Instagram app.

2. It’s Easy to Create Your Own Channel

First, download the app,

Sign into the IGTV app to create your channel

There you are done. It’s time to upload video to your channel.

 

3. Uploading a Video is EASY! Remember Vertical Videos Only

1. Go to your channel and click on your avatar

 

2. Click the + icon and upload a vertical video from your camera roll.

3. Write a title and add a description: ( note, YOU CAN ADD LINKS and they are clickable!!!!)

4. Post It!!!

 

 

4. You can check your analytics.

That’s right!!!

Click the three dots beside the like, comment, and share buttons on your IGTV video.

From here you can click “View Insights” or copy the link to your video ( yes, you can get a link to share these videos to other platforms or in your IG stories if you have the swipe up!

When you click on “View Insights” you will see your views, likes, and comments. You can also see your audience retention rate, which is how many people watched your video all the way to the end, and you can even see a drop-off graph which shows you at what point people are swiping away from your video. Which is info you can use for sure!

5. It’s easy and addicting to watch.

Just swipe to watch! When you open up the app, IGTV automatically starts playing videos from people you follow.
