Ingredients You need for your Gluten Free Overnight Oats
Ok let’s start out with what you need to make this:
- Milk. I used Oatmilk for this recipe, but you can also use any other non-dairy milk like Almond Milk Oat Milk , Cashew milk or coconut milk
- I used Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-free Old-Fashioned rolled oats. Steel cut oats are not always gluten free so check your brand if that is your preference. Quick oats will also work
- Brown Sugar
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla Extract
- Fresh apple slices: a pink lady, Honeycrisp or whatever you have on hand. I used Granny Smith in this recipe.
Optional :
- chia seeds: they help to thicken your mixture and add a protein boost and nutrients
- protein powder
- greek yogurt if you want a creamy texture
- almond butter or peanut butter
- Salt: just a tiny pinch of salt in the oats mixture can help to enhance the flavors.
How to Make Apple Pie Gluten Free Overnight Oats
First, core, slice and dice your apple.
Next, add your apples to a medium sized bowl with the brown sugar, oats and cinnamon.
In your measuring cup, combine milk and oats and vanilla.
You can also add any of the optional ingredients at this time.
Combine both in one bowl, stir to combine.
Make sure that your containers ( any 8 oz jar with a lid. A Mason jar or anything that is an airtight container) are ready. I use these overnight oats jars. They are too cute and come with a spoon.
Scoop the apple mixture evenly into the jars.
Add the tops and refrigerate overnight.
Add a pinch of cinnamon in the next morning if you’d like. If you don’t like cold oats, I like to take my overnight oats out for about 30 minutes before I eat them so that they are at room temperature.
Can you heat up overnight oats?
If you want over night oats, but still want your oats hot, you can warm them up on medium heat for 1-2 minutes in the microwave .
How long Can I store Gluten Free Overnight Oats?
Overnight oats will last up in the fridge up to to three days. Remember, the longer you leave them to soak, the more they will break down and be soft. Which, if you like that, it’s fine. But if you like your oats more chewy, no more than 3 days.
